Peregrinated here on a whim last Friday and I cerebrate I've found my incipient go to place in SF! A friend had an appetency for Latin pabulum so we peregrinated here Tequeños: so yummy! Doted the green dipping sauce. I ended up dipping all my fried plantains in this sauce additionally! Coconut ceviche: so fresh! Pork Shoulder: sous vide to perfection. Doted the tart toppings it came with..grapes? What genuinely glommed the exhibition was the freaking arepas!!! Piping sultry, impeccably crisp, it was astonishing to just victual on its own. The texture was unbelievable! Steak: astounding yuca fries and super tender, impeccably cooked steak Ardency fruit creme brûlée: holy moly this was out of this world. Not your traditional creme brulee, at times we weren't sure what we were victualing but it was so good we regretted sharing this dessert. And our experience would not have been consummate without Milena, our multilingual server who patiently heedfully aurally perceived us endeavor to verbalize Spanish and graciously availed us practice additionally! Overall, can't wait to come back!

Finally made it to Mamo, which is just across the street from our condo. It’s a cute little place and has great food and service. We had reservations but didn’t realize we had to request indoors/outdoors before arriving. The inside is not that big, so we were only able to sit at a bar like area if we wanted to sit inside. We opted for outdoor seating which is fine during this pandemic. Service was good; the wait staff were very attentive and checked in with us quite often. Food was delish. It was a little on the saltier side for me, but flavors were all there. I had the Pabellon Criollo which is shredded beef with rice, black beans and sweet plantains. My friend got the Bavette Steak over chimichurri w/truffle yucca fries. She didn’t finish hers, so we took it home and I had it as a snack after my workout. We shared the brussel sprouts which was also very delish. We brought our own wine and I believe corkage was $20. Parking is easy and the restaurant is great for all kinds of occasions whether a first date, girls night, or even family night. I would definitely come back.

Cute and cozy Columbian/Venezuelan restaurant, we made reservations and due to the size I would recommend making a reservation. They do also have outdoor seating. Parking was easy to find which is not always the case in San Francisco. Loved our meal and the service was great. We wanted to try as much as possible so we shared a couple appetizers and entrees With every dish as soon as they were bringing it to the table, you could just smell how amazing each dish was going to be. Ordered: 📍Crispy Brussel Sprouts with caper aioli. 10/10 and I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts these were wonderful! 📍Patacones (fried green plantains) 8/10 not bad just not as impressive as everything else we ordered 📍Classic Arepas (shredded beef) 10/10 📍 Arroz con Pollo. 10/10 Can't wait to go back and try even more off the menu!

Great attention from the staff. Interesting and very tasty Colombian and Venezuelan dishes. Some nice wines.

Update 02-13-2024

This is an update to one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I've been coming here since 2020.

Michael the proprietor has recently updated the menu. My favorite first course is the Patacones - fried green plantains with Mamo's sauce - and the Tequeños - a Venezuelan dish with fried breaded cheese. Then it gets difficult. For a main course, I could do the Arroz con Pollo, the Steak Chimichurri or the Arepas. And for your friends who are not so adventurous the MaMo's Burger still has an excellent South American flavor.

On the drinks side, I usually go for a draft beer, or a rosé or malbec. For a closer I'll take a shot of their tequila soju. But tonight, I am trying something new: fresh passion fruit with a shout of rum soju.

For dessert, I quite like one of the appetizers: Maduros - fried sweet plantains.

Of course, I am writing this update here at MaMo. I may not be in Colombia, but I like what it feels...
