I grew up in Germany and our family was excited to eat the type of food at the Radhaus that would remind us of the culinary experiences from the many trips we have taken to my home country. Our party of four had a reserved table inside, as we wanted to enjoy the views. We ordered 4 different dishes and an appetizer and it was a very disappointing experience for everyone, except for the beer. Had we not been so hungry after a long day on the water we would have returned the dishes after the first bite. I felt bad for my husband as it was his birthday - he ordered Jägerschnitzel and the dish not only looked unappealing to the eye given the brown, sticky mousse topping the meat but the taste and texture were also far from the creamy, savory mushroom sauce that Jägerschnitzel is known for. It tasted like blended chocolate pudding with cream of mushroom sauce from the can. It was disgusting. My daughter’s Käsespätzle felt more like Mac and cheese and instead of the crunchy browned onions at the top they mixed onion flavoring into the cheese sause. Disappointing. I ordered a Chicken Schnitzel sandwich and I only had half of it as it was too fatty. Schnitzel is supposed to be prepared with lean meat like sliced chicken breast instead of chicken thigh. The French fries on the side were decent though. My son ordered Currywurst and it was a letdown both visually as well as in taste. The two sausages looked like they had been sitting in the pan for a while and the clumpy and sparse sauce was nothing like we know from Germany - a creamy, generous, curry flavored gravy on top of the sausages. It felt like they smeared some currysauce out of a jar on top of the sausages. The appetizer was good but ridiculously small. For $12 we got a micro pretzel smaller than a roll and a tablespoon of Obazda, which is the cheese spread that goes with it. Each of us had one small bite. I give the review one star only because the beer and the French fries were good. I suggest to go for the beer if you must and sit outside. The ambiance inside is just okay as it is a bit filthy if you look up and it is very(!) noisy. It could be a great place with a bit of effort to make it more inviting and comfortable. The end. I typically don’t write reviews but I felt compelled to provide feedback on this rather...
Read moreWe came in one rainy evening and got seated at the bar right away - the restaurant was decently packed but not overly so, so it seems like a good spot to get a table when you're in the area. Service was prompt and friendly, and the bartender was really helpful about explaining all the different beers they had on tap, even giving us samples to help with the decision making!
The restaurant is pretty big with a large bar area so you can go as a pair, alone or even as a big group. It's definitely got those beer hall vibes though the food certainly delivered over and above my expectations. We were in a bit of a hurry but the food came quickly and we managed to be in and out in under an hour! It would have been nice to linger but maybe next time.
Haus Hugo - pur elderflower, lime, prosecco, seltzer, mint. This was ok, I liked the flavors overall but it was on the light side. I would definitely get this in the summer over the winter! Currywurst - two sausages with curry-ketchup and fries. The fries were delicious! Very crunchy and well seasoned. The sausages were generous and I really liked the curry ketchup which was well blended, not too sweet and had a nice savory note from both the ketchup and the curry powder. It was also really good dipping sauce for the fries. Bratwurst - one bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato puree, pork jus, sweet mustard. Also really delicious! The sauerkraut serving was very generous which I appreciated because I think it's so good paired with the sausage and the potato puree was very buttery and creamy. The pork jus was a good accompaniment to the sausage too. If you're a beer person, this is a good place to try a variety of different German beers as well since everything seems to be imported...
Read moreWe visited this place about two months ago as a group of three, and I’ve been debating whether to leave a review.
On the positive side: the food was really delicious, the beer was excellent, the location is good and lots of natural light inside. Service from one of the servers was very good and attentive.
Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the way we were treated at the entrance. When we first arrived, it was quite busy, and the bearded man at the door almost completely ignored us, giving us a rather dismissive look. We tried not to let it ruin the day. Later, other staff member started asking if we were leaving or not and moved us to another table because a large group was arriving.
The worst part was at the end: when we were ready to leave, the entrance man(not our server) silently dropped off a check with a large-party fee included with a pen to include more tip, even though we were only three people. It felt as if he assumed we wouldn’t notice, maybe because we’d had drinks. When we asked our server, he apologized and brought us the corrected bill. And we tipped him great because he was the only one with positive attitude there.
Spending over $300, I would expect better treatment. The food and drinks were great, but the attitude from staff members left a very...
