The Interval at Long Now is not your typical bar - it's a truly unique and innovative project that combines history, science, and technology to create a one-of-a-kind experience. The project is part of the Long Now Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering long-term thinking and encouraging people to consider the future in their daily lives.
The bar itself is beautiful and welcoming, with a cozy atmosphere and a great selection of drinks. But what really sets The Interval apart is the range of events and talks they host, featuring speakers and experts from a wide variety of fields. These events are always thought-provoking and inspiring, encouraging visitors to consider big ideas and challenging them to think in new ways.
But The Interval is more than just a bar and events space - they are actively working on a number of projects aimed at improving the future. One of their most exciting initiatives is the Clock of the Long Now, a mechanical clock designed to keep accurate time for 10,000 years. This incredible project is a testament to the foundation's commitment to long-term thinking and the importance of considering the future in our daily lives.
I highly recommend The Interval at Long Now to anyone looking for a truly unique and inspiring experience. The combination of history, science, and technology is truly remarkable, and the foundation's commitment to improving the future is something we can all learn from. Don't miss out on this...
Read moreOk so I've been to a few really cool bars but never to one and neat as this. They have these amazing mechanical art pieces, even one you can lose a finger at. There are lots of things in here that catch your eye. After noticing the art, my eye caught what looked like lights hanging from the ceiling. Turned out to be booze bottles hanging from the ceiling and were numbered. Turns out they are for sponsors, they are limited made spirits made just for this charity sponsorships. This is Soo cool! They also have a super rare tea if your not into alcohol, just ask. If that's not enough, they have a few cool nooks and a private area you can sit. They have some snacks and a full bar, with a bartender worth talking to. He made us one of the best Irish coffee's I've ever seen a had, and I had just been to Buena Vista. I was really impressed that he not only hand shook the fresh cream but also tossed in a lil chocolate liquor and topped it with a lil hand shaved dark chocolate. This place is my favorite spot in all of the ft. Mason area, if you go you have to check this place out for sure! So they offer a limited menu during lunch/breakfast but have a full menu and stay open later in the evening for drinks. Oh almost forgot to mention the ginger mixer prototype machine that mixes the perfect flavored gin, you cannot find anything like this...
Read moreWe stopped at The Interval At Long Now after a long walk through the city to cool off and wet our palettes. We hadn't been to Fort Mason before, but were glad to have known about this bar in advance as it was a bit hidden in the back of the complex.
As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the atmosphere. With books all around and steampunkesque decor throughout the bar and tables, this bar definitely has an eclectic yet calming atmosphere.
I got the Paxton's Arrow while my partner got the I've Grown to Love Life Too Much. Although I was super excited by the combination green chile vodka, Ancho Reyes, and celery/green chile tincture, I found Paxton's Arrow to be a bit celery forward, and didn't think the drink came together quite as I was expecting.
On the other hand, my partner and I both loved the I've Grown to Love Life Too Much two-part cocktail. Neither of us have had a two-part cocktail quite like this, and found that the cognac, spiced pear liqueur, and creme de cacao came together beautifully in the main drink, which was also washed down nicely with the dry champagne accompanying it.
Sadly, we were not able to stay for another round, as the cocktail menu is quite interesting and varied. Needless to say, we...
