Hands down, the best Greek food in the city Two recommendations right off the bat: Make reservations and come hungry.
I’ve been to almost every Greek place I could find in the Bay the past ten years; searching for a place that captured the essence of eating in Greece, but struck out every time. Most are really good but more Mediterranean, or Americanized (either to be overly upscale or fast food like Nick the Greek). When someone recommended Milos I looked at their menu, did some research and was immediately optimistic. I made sure to go in hungry as possible and definitely think it was the best way to go. Food: My biggest regret about last night was not taking pictures of the food. I was too busy drooling over each dish to pause and admire what they put before me. I'll be back to rectify this oversight on another day. There was beautiful presentation on every plate. You can tell everything was using the freshest ingredients (particularly the vegetables, olive oils, tzatziki and feta). I think it’s a reasonably priced for the portion size, but excellently priced when you consider the noticeable quality in every dish and the exceptional staff.
I’d be willing to wager I couldn’t find a bad item on the menu if I ordered everything. Most items are easily sharable, so I’d recommend coming with a few friends to maximize your order.
My favorite items ordered: Horiatiki salad - Five different kinds of freshest tomatoes I’ve had in a long time. Served with - cucumber, other crispy veggies, and a ridiculously tasty dressing. I’m not a feta fan, but you could tell the quality of the generous portion of feta on the side was leaps and bounds better than what you can get at the store. Souvlaki (lamb) - So tender. Add some tzatziki to it to really maximize the flavor. Served with a nice portion of vegetables/potatoes Moussaka - A good amount of lamb inside. Creamy and layered to perfection.
Staff: We were promptly greeted and sat upon entering Milo’s. They once seated, they checked in very often. Made sure our drinks were re-filled, made suggestions, the whole nine. We ordered a lot of food (too much for the smallish table), so they brought everything out in courses. Between each course they wiped down the table, and changed out our silverware a couple of times, which wasn’t always necessary but very much appreciated. A very nice man came up to our table to check in on us. He pridefully explained the dishes, how they were prepared, the origins of the ingredients. His warmth a passion for the food was so apparent and really made me appreciate the meal more. I’m pretty sure he was the owner or head chef: either way, keep up the great work!
Ambiance: One thing I loved was the location. I don’t get up to the Marina very often so it was nice to make the journey out there. There’s a parking garage near by that wasn’t too expensive and the walk to the restaurant was really nice. Once we arrived, I got a chance to soak in the ambiance. Nice artwork painted onto the walls with white houses in some Greek isle. I found the seats to be very comfortable.
The place is large and it was really busy, I’m so glad we made reservations because I don’t think I we would’ve been able to be seated otherwise.
This isn’t a first-date place. It’s very loud in there and the tables were close together. I found that talking to my quiet friend across the table from me was difficult at times. That being said, if you’re with a group of people you love and feel comfortable sharing food and loud conversations with, the setting is perfect.
On a side note, other delicious items we ordered: Octopus - A thick tentacle that when garnished with lemon, was very flavorful. Was a bit tough but was still flavorful. Probably best share between two people so order more if a third person wants to join in. Saghanaki - Maybe too much cheese for one person. Share it with a lot of people. Avgolemno soup - Lemon soup with eggs and chicken in it. They were able to split up an order into two bowls which is great because the portion would’ve been too big...
Read moreWhat a fantastic dining experience! First, we are careful about where we dine. We avoid seed oils (especially canola, vegetable, etc.) that so many restaurants have. This narrows down the places we’re willing to dine. We were thrilled to find that Milos Mezes uses 100% organic olive oil from a single origin: Greece! They have it out on the table to enjoy as you wish and it is delicious. They use olive oil and butter, and use sunflower oil only for frying. Second, everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and vibrant with special touches like grilled lemon and tomatoes. We had the octopus, a traditional Greek salad (with the creamiest feta with orgegano), and the gigantes to start. Their pita bread and tomato and walnut spread was amazing too. We had the sea Brean whole fish and the sea bass whole fish. Both were perfection, cooked in a brick oven, and they don’t skimp on the food! Dessert was equally lovely - rice pudding and the semolina cake, which was moist and had fresh orange zest in it. Wow. We can’t say enough about this restaurant. To top it off, the wine list was quite robust with everything from Greek varieties to Italian and domestic from medium range to high end options. The staff was warm, welcoming and all over it! We live around the corner, so we’re thrilled to have an amazing restaurant back in the Marina. It opened 6 months ago and it was busy when we got there shortly after they opened at 4. I recommend reservations, but it’s not necessary. The ambiance is casual but upscale and the decor is very nice with hand painted murals on the walls. Check out the cool wall of wine displayed at the back of the restaurant! We highly recommend Milos Meze in the Marina on Steiner Street. Our only regret? We didn’t take photos of our food. We’ll be...

I recently dined at Milos Meze and was thoroughly impressed. I started with the Feta Psiti—baked roasted feta with tomatoes and olive oil—which was absolutely divine, and followed with the Oktapodi, a perfectly grilled Spanish octopus seasoned with lemon, oregano, and olive oil. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and captured the authentic flavors of Greek cuisine.
Each meal comes with freshly baked pita bread, a small selection of grilled olives, and their signature “Spicy Hitipiti”—a roasted bell pepper, walnut, and feta dip. While I didn’t find the spread particularly spicy, it was incredibly flavorful and delicious, the perfect accompaniment to the pita and olives.
Their wine selection is equally impressive, featuring a thoughtfully curated variety of wines from Greece, Italy, Napa, and other renowned wine regions. I sampled two different Greek wines, both exceptional, and appreciated the focus on quality and authenticity.
The service was warm, friendly, and family-like, making me feel instantly comfortable even though I was dining alone. The dining space is beautifully designed, offering an inviting and elegant atmosphere.
With an extensive menu of authentic Greek dishes, Milos Meze is easily the best Greek dining experience I’ve had in a long time. I’m already looking forward to returning with friends the next time I’m in San...
