A lovely restaurant, with extremely attentive staff and good food.
Coming from around Europe, great Turkish restaurants are commonplace, so I was keen to try this restaurant in San Francisco.
The setting is lovely, and as a solo diner they set me in a corner so I could look over the restaurant.
The staff seem to have some sort of hive mind, always listening to what other people are ordering and whilst still talking to the waiter, part of your order will just appear on your table from someone else walking by!
To start, I had the hummus - which was presented fantastically. It was really well blended and not grainy, but could have had more spices to flavour it - it was a little bland mainly just tasting of chickpea. The breads served with it were disappointing. This is usually my favourite part of eating at a Turkish restaurant, as the fresh cooked breads, served warm are amazing. Here they seemed like plain shop bought pitas and were spongy.
For main, they made me a mixed shish with chicken and lamb, as on the menu they have them separately. This was good, although underwhelming compared to food at home. The pieces of meat were half the size and though and dry in comparison. The flavour is also missing a little of the chargrilled smoke you expect from a Turkish grill.
Overall, a good meal, and I think I’m comparing it unfairly hence 4* instead of 3*...

I was able to make dinner reservations here for the day of, and we were pleasantly surprised with a well decorated and serene restaurant. The service staff was so friendly, and they are mostly family that own the restaurant, taking pride in their service and food. They clearly put guests first.
We ordered the hummus and babaghanoush appetizers, and both were tasty with nic textures, some of the best I've ever had. My friend had the branzino entree, which was wonderfully moist and simply seasoned, with a delightful crisp on the skin - this was also among nest I've ever had. The chicken kabobs were tender and flavorful; the beef gyro meat wasn't either of those, and we told a server, who considerately kept it off our bill. The steamed veggies were a nice side to the flavorful fish and meat, and the rice pilaf was nice.
We finished with a complimentary baklava for my friend's birthday, and that was easily the best baklava we had both ever had. Its pastry dough was light and flavorful, a nice portion of crushed, tasty pistachios, and a nice balance of honey, not syrup-y like a lot of baklava found in the US. They make it in-house, and you will be...
Read moreNow that outdoor dining started back up again I decided to go here last night with my boyfriend. We’ve gotten takeout from here before but have never eaten at the restaurant and were curious to try it.
It was an all-around incredible dining experience. We had a three course meal - combo platter as an appetizer, salmon entree (my boyfriend got the lamb plate), and the baklava for dessert. Would highly recommend all of these but I’m sure any of the items on the menu are delicious. Also the outdoor dining setup is fantastic - covered tables, all socially distanced, with heaters and string lights. Lastly, the service was excellent. Sarem took care of us and always asked to make sure we were doing okay and enjoying our experience (which we were the whole time)! Food came out quick and everything was fresh and delicious. This is a great place to go in the neighborhood for a delicious Mediterranean meal. Would highly, highly recommend - just go, you...
