In Feb 2020 I was engaged and right away started contacting places to try on wedding dresses as our original wedding date was going to be in oct 2020. Something blue was one of the first places I reached out to to try on dresses as I lived close to the salon and Sacramento st has been a fav spot of mine shopping. I had always loved the dresses in their shop and when looking online they carried some of the designers I was interesting in. Irina and Helen were a dream to work with and were so accommodating throughout the entire journey and process. My original appointment had to be cancelled as the city shutdown and they stayed in constant communication with me as we navigated when I would be able to come try on dresses. Finally was able to come into the salon, one of the first days they were allowed to be opened and they pulled different styles and dresses for me. After 2 more visits I knew this one dress was for me as nothing else compared to it and said yes to my dress in May 2020 (a Helen Miller dress). At this point I knew I wanted some changes to the dress and Helen and Irina were so great to work with me on what we could adjust and change (I wanted a different top of the dress than the original design). The bottom of the dress was started and when I was due to go in and do my final measurements for the top we had to make the decision to postpone our wedding to 2021. They were so great to reassure me that it was going to be ok and that they would hold the dress safe aboard where it was being made and we would pick it back up in 2021. I was so grateful for this as when I picked back up the design on the dress in summer of 2021 some of my ideas had changed and they were able to work with me to design what I had envisioned.
While leading up to my wedding in October 2021 Irina worked her magic on many other dresses and items for wedding events. She did wonders on a jumpsuit that needed alterations and a dress for my bachelorette that needed to be taken in.
I had Irina do multiple of my bridesmaids dress alterations and they even did my husbands tux pants 2 days before the wedding in 2021.
Overall, Irina and Helen were truly wedding angels throughout my almost 2 year journey and were so incredible to me, my family and friends. I will continue to go back to them for any alterations and will highly recommend them to any of my friends and family that are looking their perfect dress. They really treat their customers like family and I will treasure all the moments and stories that we shared...

My daughter had a fitting 6 months ago. We made an appointment at that time for her final fitting. We were told that the alteration person would be there that day for the final fitting. We would stop in, final fitting, go have lunch and take dress home. This was last Friday, August 20th at 12:30. We drove over two hours to San Francisco from Sacramento. Arrived on time and no seamstress was there. She wanted to drop her kids off at school for their first day. We were never given a phone call that we should postpone our appointment. Wedding is this weekend so expected them to bend over backwards to alter the dress.
We were told that my daughter lost too much weight. Tailor is only in on Tuesdays and Fridays. Plan B was to have her alter dress this past Tuesday and it would be ready Wednesday after 12:00. In addition, they charged me $80 plus dollars for the alterations. This was in addition to the already $500 plus dollars I paid to have the dress altered last February.
Tuesday came and that night my daughter gets a call that the seamstress is out sick and that the dress will not be ready until Friday, the day before her wedding and we are still over two hours away. At this point we are panicked and let them know how unacceptable this is. They offered no resolution. We were told to either pick it up Friday or come and get the dress and figure it out ourselves. My daughter picked up the dress on Wednesday. No apologies. Refunded $80 but charged her $250 for something they said we owed.
We took it to our local seamstress Wednesday night and they had to rebuild the bodice and the hem was not complete. They basically took apart the poor workmanship and put it back together properly. They had it done Thursday and it fits her perfectly!
Thank God for our local and loyal people in our small community that took care of us!
On so many levels how we were treated was terrible and the fact that they body shamed my daughter for losing weight as if it was her fault the dress didn’t fit is just awful!
The worst experience we could have had! Beware!
Please see below at how the owner responded 15 minutes after my review. She responds that I must have the wrong shop and we are not in the database. The horrific customer service continues. I literally have email receipts with this shops name and address. The lack of accountability is unbelievable.
Stay away from this...
Read moreFrom our first appointments to view and try on dresses through the dress selection, alterations and even post-wedding processes, my (now) wife and I had such a wonderful experience working with Helen and Irina at And Something Blue!
First off, they have a surprisingly robust selection given the size of the storefront itself and quite a diverse array of styles and cuts, which was wonderful. At a few of the other boutiques in the city we found that they tended to have a handful of set cuts/styles and they'd just customize colors/materials, but at And Something Blue they truly had a variety, which is especially helpful when you want to try everything and see what tends to look best on your form.
Ultimately I bought a dress here and my wife ended buying hers at a different store outside the city. However, notwithstanding the fact that my wife bought her dress at a different store, we were BOTH able to get our alterations done at At Something Blue and they did a wonderful job on both dresses.
Helen and Irina were the perfect combination of supportive and honest when it came to picking the right dress. Definitely not a place where I felt they were going to tell me I looked pretty in something just for the sake of making a sale. They take a lot of pride in what they do and wanting their brides to look 100% on their special day and that translates into candid feedback during both the dress selection and alterations processes. We both really appreciated that.
Lastly, but worth noting, they also had recommendations when it came to dress cleaning/preservation services and were able to connect us with a local company that specializes in wedding dress cleaning/preservation that even does pickup if you live within certain parts of the Bay Area, which was especially clutch for us during COVID era and since we don't have a car.
Would 100% recommend this store to any bride in the market for a wedding dress in the Bay Area! (Note Photo Credit:...
