DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM IF YOU WANT ANY KIND OF DECENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I just ended my two-year membership here today.
The gym rates there are very high. For that level of price, I expect good service. One of the things I like about the JCC is that they have pilates springboards on the workout floor, which I need to use because of a recommended course of exercise from my physical therapist. About two weeks ago, I noticed one of the high-tension springs was malformed at one end. I took it to the fitness desk, and they said "oh we'll deal with it."
Next visit, still not dealt with. In fact, there's another spring that's lost some of its tension as well. Go to the fitness desk, they say it's my imagination. I complain to the customer service rep.
Today's visit: I actually take the three springs out of the fitness floor down to the service manager and physically show them the malformed and lowered tension spring alongside a good one. He tries to write off their bad management of the fitness floor with "well, they said they fixed it."
Final update:Today, after a different set of bad pilates springs, another painful discussion with the fitness floor staff and customer service staff, I quit. The YMCA is a far better choice. UCSF. USF. Anywhere but here. Not good enough. Your service sucks. There are other gyms in San Francisco and I'm looking on yelp for...
Read moreI had enrolled my daughter to JCC GADs program and found it disappointing in my overall experience. Having to pay close to $100 per day for this special GADs summer camp, I don't think worth it at all. Friday they will take the kid to Zoo via buses and ? worth $100 at all Poor coordination and notification of field trip and upcoming performance on the last Friday 2pm. The staff did NOT even know when and where the field trip will be on the first day of camp. Poor organized. Drop on service in AM is a HASSLE! It is a LONG Long line and hard to make a turn into Walnut street to drop off your kids at Walnut street. If you arrive 9:01 , one minute late, the security guy will STOP your car from lining up immediately despite there are 10 cars in front of you and he just let the car in front of you to go in but asked you to park your car in parking slots instead. The staff is NOT friendly, NOT flexible. They do NOT SMILE or Say hello in AM. Even if you manage to get into the line, the time from the entrance to exit is over 10 minutes. It is time cosuming every morning to drop on your kids.
I will NOT return to JCC program summer program at all as it does NOT WORTH the money at all with all these hassles and poor...
Read moreI love the group exercise classes offered by the JCC. Tara, who does one of the spin classes and the sculpting class, works you hard, but not to the point where you're gasping for air. My favorite class thus far is the Renew and Restorative yoga. I felt SO relaxed afterwards, which is exactly what I needed at the end of a long week.
After that yoga class, I took a shower in their very clean facilities. And I went to the sauna to dry off.
It's the beginning of the year so the gym is crowded for now. I'm sure that will change soon.
Oh, and I like the machines. They're very new, and you can log on to keep track of your progress.
The only downside is customer service. All the niceties were dispensed upon sign-up over the phone. Once I came in to sign the paperwork, it was all business. I didn't even get a tour. It wasn't until my friend who works there told me what was supposed to happen, including being able to sign up for a personal trainer for a complimentary session.
Otherwise, great classes, clean facilities, and new machines, which is what I expect because I'm definitely...
