SWIG — Restaurant in San Francisco

Swig has been keeping a great vibe for more than a decade. Since before "swanky" became standard. Lots of memories (or not) going from Swig to Ambassador to Rye to Osha.

[2022.09] Currently, after yeaaarrrs away, i see an Interesting remodel of a 10+ yr bar space. Aesthetic aims for modern/industrial rustic cozy but the lighting styles are potentially mismatched. Roominess can accommodate a thick social environment/party event, but on an off night feels vacant (like tonight). Fireplace vibe helps. The bar shelving is nice.

Tonight is Thursday and now I've realized the DJ network are people I follow/play the best on KALW!

Thursdays w/ Boogie Brown feature some of the better DJs in the Bay, when it comes to taste in soul/funk/boogie/dance. Tfw a Joey Lawrence Remix mixes perfectly out of post-Prince / New Jack Swing, is kind of a "no wayyyy, this is good??" moment. Great bar/lounge/transition vibe.

The cocktail menu is somewhat forgettable. Don't bother with the "new" customs, just order classics that they can't mess up.

I generally judge a bar/bartender by 1) the drink; 2) how willing they are to please the palate (pride in the craft)

Here, disappointment in their lemon juice with whiskey/earl grey cocktail fell on deaf/ignorant ears (hint hint). I felt it uncouth to be a Karen on the spot, so yes - passive aggression review? Haha jk. Dude said "I put 1oz lemon. Yeah, it's the recipe." So... Yeah @ Swig Bar Mngr: the lemon drowns out everything else, maybe tone it down; and what earl grey?

Alternate recommendation: literally up the street, you can hit the Bourbon & Branch library and have your palate be blown away with refinement of distilled flavor by the pioneers of West Coast mixology, for the same...

Swig is a fun club-type atmosphere that seems to cater to the bridge and tunnel folk mostly. if you're in the mood to be starred at and questioned as to why you're there then this is the spot for you. Put on your fancy dress and high-heels and get yourself downtown to Swig.

The contemporary decor seems to keep up to date and thrives as being a sophisticated bar. I think it's lacking in the classy aspect of the word sophistication. Although, the drinks are good and music is fine, there seems to be nothing special or deserving of a 4th star.

It's an amazing place that I found in SAN Francisco, a bar that is a kind of night club with music, good drinks and appetizers. I went with my friends and we enjoyed incredible moments in this place. it has a beautiful decoration, it is very well located, the staff are super attentive, cordial and receptive, the drinks are delicious, the price is good, the music is great, I highly recommend it. If you go to SAN Francisco and want to have fun with friends or family, this is the ideal place. It is worth mentioning that the place closes at 2am....
