Average Tacos in a Sea of Better Options
During my recent visit to a Mexican taqueria in San Francisco's Mission District, my experience was, unfortunately, underwhelming.
One aspect that stood out was the use of a single tortilla for each taco. While this was sufficient to hold the ingredients, it's worth noting that many nearby eateries provide two tortillas, adding a bit more substance to their tacos.
The 'lengua' (beef tongue) taco, in particular, was a letdown. The meat tasted undercooked, lacking the rich quality that typically characterizes well-prepared lengua.
Price-wise, this taqueria didn't hit the mark either. For a dollar less, you can find more fulfilling options in the vicinity. And if you're willing to pay the same price, there are definitely nearby places that offer a superior culinary experience.
The Mission District is renowned for its Mexican food, with an array of taquerias vying for the top spot. Unfortunately, this particular spot doesn't quite live up to the fierce competition. If you're in the area and craving tacos, you might want to explore other options to satisfy...

Definitely a larger menu than that other place. We had the fish enchiladas (watched them saute the fresh fish) which were gigantic and yummy. Also had an assortment of soft tacos - delicious! My only gripe was that they loaded those tacos with so much goodness that we had to eat some away before we could hold them. Really large portions.
They have a good selection of latin beers, some soft drinks and juice drinks, and for dessert? Flan and CHOCOLATE FLAN! Oh, dear God, it was good! The decor is very basic, the same as the other place, the service is excellent, and it costs the same as you-know-who. Be smart. Just walk...
Read moreI visited the taqueria Saturday April 4th after 10 years of being away from SFO. The food was exactly as I remembers it, fresh well seasoned and hot. The salsa bar was well filled and clean. The home made jalapenos was like my mom used to make jammy. We had tacos, birria and a burrito. the tacos had plenty of meat and full of flavor. the birria was fresh and amazingly season again just like mom used to make. I will drive again the to this taqueria passing over 15 other taquerias just for the flavor of their meat and the seasoning use. The only down part is they only take cash, and they have a ATM inside that charges a hefty fee. The prices seems high but remember you are if SFO were the minimum wage had being up in the $15 for a while making the city a pioneer city for living wage.. glad to pay...
