The Hook is a seafood restaurant that is located in Pier 39. This restaurant has an outdoor and indoor seating. Although their signature menu is Fish & Chips, we did not try it. We tried another interesting menu. The order system here is telling the cashier what we want, paying, then waiting and picking the order up to the table by ourselves. Self service as usual. Here are what we tried : Creamy Clam Chowder (USD 9.45) Besides clam, they also provide crab and shrimp, and also stagg chilli. We could also choose the serving either in a sourdough bread bowl or in a cup. We choose the serving in sourdough bread bowl that filled with the warm and creamy chowder with clam and mushroom. Eat it together with the sourdough bread. A good combination of a little sour taste of bread and the warm chowder. It is a good dish, especially on a cold weather in San Francisco just like what we experienced. However, we cannot eat the sourdough bread fully because it has a hard texture. Just it cut it slowly into the little slice. Crab Cake (USD 11.52) The two big fried crab cakes served with fries and coleslaw. I like that fresh coleslaw! Do not forget to add on the chilli, tomato, and mustard sauce.

Was looking for a quick seafood restaurant along Pier 39 and stopped at the Hook! The had more reasonable prices compared to the neighboring restaurants. I purchased a cup of clam chowder and crab cakes with garlic fries. Everyone along the pier offered garlic fries so I had to try! They had many of their menu items on displays which was helpful as a first timer here. The clam chowder was on the thicker side and creamy (my preferred style) but did have a hint of bacon flavor which may not be for everyone. The crab cakes tasted fresh as well as the French fries. It was definitely a larger portions so come hungry. Also there was outdoor seating and a mini donut place right next door. Very happy with this meal!

While visiting San Francisco with my best friend, we stopped at The Hook on Pier 39, and shared a clam chowder in a bread bowl. It was delicious! The chowder was creamy, flavorful, and packed with tender clams, and the bread bowl was the perfect vessel—crispy on the outside and soft inside. The casual, laid-back vibe of the place was perfect for a quick meal while enjoying the views. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but for fresh seafood and the atmosphere, it’s totally worth it. If you’re in the area, definitely give it a try! Video Review will be posted on Tik Tok @Foxy.appetite and Instagram @Foxyappetite soon

We walked the wharf for hours trying to find a reasonably priced place to sit down and eat that didnt have an hour wait line. We stumbled in here by accident and it was way above our initial expectations. The servers were quite friendly, food was amazing, very filling portions and came quickly. The servers were still friendly and not at all agitated when us outsiders asked questions. We will visit again the next time were down and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to avoid spending $100 on lunch for 2 at the wharf. Hubby had the chili bowl, which was made fresh, hot and had just a little kick. He was very pleased. He also ordered fries to put in the chili but never made it that far. I had the crab and shrimp bowl with fried shrimp on the side. I couldnt stop eating it but also couldnt finish it. The chowder was nice a 2nd creamy, perfect temperature and had very rounded flavors of crab, tomato and butter. I love seafood and have never had this chowder. But I am...

This place had to be a nightmare that manifested straight out of what Chef Gordan Ramsey would perceive to be hell. I ordered fish and chips, clam chowder bread bowl, and grilled chicken, 3 small drinks. -2 small pieces of fish and a small side of frys, $13 -1/2 of a half of chicken breast... with a large spoonfull of rice and some salad. The chicken was so thin and of little perportions I thought it was fish. $15 -clam chowder bowl was pathetic, very small portions of clam chowder inside of a shallow-carved bowl to create the illusion of good portions of chowder. You get more chowder out of a $2 can of soup, and the same flavor. Their chowder was nothing special and the bread bowl was cold!! $12 -3 small drinks came out to $11 and some odd change, these were small cups mind you. This place is terrible, horrible pricing, horrible portions of food, uncomfortable environment, and extremely poor...
