Wipeout Bar and Grill restaurant is the San Francisco Bay Areas wildly popular California surf-themed restaurant. Wipeout Bar and Grill is owned and operated by the family that founded PIER 39, the Simmons Family. They have a wide-open patio and outdoor bar, roaring fire pit, celebrity-signed surfboards and world-famous beach signs, Wipeout Bar and Grill is a killer hangout spot. Upon entering you’ll see their giant projection screen TV and awesome drinks they serve that make it the best place to watch sporting events in Fishermans Wharf. Wipeout Bar and Grill food list was widespread like Screamin Starters, Shreddin Salads, Paddlin Pizzas, Surfin Sandwiches, mouth-watering Burgers and more. I ordered their Grilled Salmon Bowl (GF), shrimp salad and Pink Lemonade. Upon arrival of my food, I notice the lovely aroma and how soft the fish was as my knife cut through effortlessly. Shrimp salad was fresh and tasty as well. Their food was warm, fresh, tasty and flavorful. Similarly, the pink lemonade was refreshing and good. Service was mildly fast and staff were assiduous, competent and followed health protocol. Prices were slightly on the high end. Parking can be challenging and expensive given its in the Pier. In this voluminous review, it’s time to make a concluding remark. Overall, I enjoyed my dine-in experience and food/drink. And I highly recommend this surf...
Read moreSaw this place on Google while looking for dinner and the options sounded really good so why not try it.
The place was packed so that looked good. Once we were seated and looked over the menu it to 10 minutes before our server brought us out drink order. He just dropped off our drinks and left, didn't ask if we were ready to order or anything. We waited another 5-10 minutes before he came back and took our order.
While we waited for our food we did enjoy the decor and videos on all the TVs.
We finally received our food after almost a 30 minute wait. We try to be patient knowing about staff shortages and supply issues but this was a bit beyond what was acceptable.
We ordered fish and chips and a burger, not something that should have taken 30+ minutes. To make it worse, the fish was undercooked, as the breading inside was mushy. The fries were cold, and the burger was so bland it was almost inedible.
There were no condiments on the burger and it took forever to get our servers attention to get some mayo.
After all was said and done the bill for fish and chips, a burger, water and one burger was over $50. We were sorely disappointed with this place. I can forgive slow service with how things are going now but not bad food.
Not worth the time or money...
Read moreWipe Out is something of a favourite amongst tourists and although not my style, I can see why it draws so many visitors. Located at the entrance to Pier 39, you can’t miss it with the front door statues of a male / female surfers with their boards, usually with tourists having their photos snapped with them. Paying homage to all things surfing, the tabletops are surfboards, there are surfboards on the walls and on the ceilings. Two large surfing inspired murals also adorn the walls. Although we only stopped for refreshments, the menu looked extensive and everything that is iconic for fast food. The signs about shark attacks made me giggle, considering the shark attacks in Australia in the last few years. Wall tv’s run continuously showing surfing footage which features some fearless surfers at locations around the globe. Disability access is pretty good. If you have dietary requirements, particularly allergies you’ll have to bring that to the attention of your waiters. Cute little takeaway truck also incorporated on the outside of the restaurant. There is a nice view out to Alcatraz from the window seats. Staff were outstanding for service and always helpful. If you’re into experiencing a typical American restaurant, then it’s...
