Zero stars if I could. I used to frequent this place almost monthly. Every time I was in San Juan, the experience was pleasant and the food was seasoned well. However, after my last dining experience, I will never return, due to the poor service and the unhygienic discovery of what appeared to be two facial or pubic hairs in my food. This happened as a result of rushing out my sandwich, which took almost an hour to prepare while other people received their food, paid their bills, and left. I had to flag down the waitress and let her know I had been waiting for my food for 50 minutes, to which the cook responded, âItâs only been 40 minutesâŠâ
After discovering the two hairs in my food and waiting for over an hour, I was completely done. My partner and I were very angry and upset at how the situation was handled. I flagged the waitress down again and pointed out the hairs on my sandwich. The kitchen staff proceeded to examine the hair and determined, after their âcareful investigation,â that it wasnât theirs. Apparently, I had planted the hair in my food after waiting 50 minutes just to avoid eating what Iâd been waiting for.
I ended up paying my full tab because they didnât offer to do anything about it, and I gladly left this place, never to return. The food is mediocre, and the service is terrible. There are better options in the area, like Abracadabra.
Most of all, Iâm just disappointed in the cookâs (who I believe is the owner) reaction, essentially blaming me or my partner for the hair and making excuses about the timing when I am a regular customer.
No apology was given for either situation; instead, we were both...
Read moreI was really excited to try this new spot after hearing so many great things. I knew they didnât take reservations, which was fine. When I arrived, I was about 4th in line and was told that waiting outside wouldnât be an issue since weâd be seated in order of arrival. Totally fair.
Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. I ended up waiting an hour and a half outside while watching multiple groups who arrived after me get seated inside. The staff reassured me that weâd be moved inside before food was served, but instead, they had us order outside and then brought our food out there too.
It was a hot day, and sitting outside with hot food and coffee just wasnât workable. The food came while I was still outside in the sun, and it wasnât enjoyable. I asked for it to go, but when they brought it out, there was no way to pay at first. When I finally could, I asked for a discount given the long wait and poor experience, but instead of understanding, I was met with excuses.
Paying full price for a to-go order after waiting an hour and a half in the heat, while watching others be seated inside, was really disappointing. I get that things can be busy, but the lack of consistency and care left a bad taste. Sadly, I canât...
