Went to Takeria on 4th of July and were very pleased to be seated within few minutes. However, it was downhill from there on. Had to wait for almost half an hour before getting our drinks and had to personally go to the counter to get water after failed attempts asking the waitress. After long delay, only partial dinner order was served. One of us in a group of five did not get their order of Three chicken Tacos (deal of the day). The rest of the folks reluctantly and slowly worked through their meal waiting for the missing order to arrive. We ordered dessert but after another half an hour of wait, when the Tacos or the dessert failed to arrive, we decided to cancel the pending order and requested the cheque. Even that took another 15 min. The waitress apologized a couple of times but the evening was ruined and none of us wants to visit here again. It is a shame since the food was good with plenty of veg options and the ambiance was nice too. We expected delays due to holiday but there was no excuse for not serving one person in a group a simple order of three tacos even after more than two hours wait. We know that the waitresses work hard, but in this specific case, paying 18% mandatory gratuity felt unreasonable for such a...
Read moreIf I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Absolutely inexcusable service across the board, RUDE manager/owner. We ordered nopal tacos (cactus), nachos and a quesadilla. See details below.
For starters the nachos, if that’s what you call them were stale chips w sour cream & packaged guac w tomatoes on top. I asked the server if we could substitute beans for the meat since we were vegetarian & she said yes but failed to mention that even though we weren’t eating meat there would still be an ADDITIONAL charge for the spoonful of beans.
Secondly, the cactus tacos were soggy, slimy and tasted horrible and the quesadilla was one corn tortilla cut up into 8 pieces w a handful of chips in the basket.
After we paid the bill I asked to speak to the mgr. When the mgr came out she was rude and told me they didn’t have any bad reviews so all of my concerns were invalid since “everyone loves the place”. I asked her why they charged us $2 for a plastic ramekin of beans since we don’t eat meat and she said “no substitutions”. They she said she was from Mexico and she knows how to cook nopal and I must not know what I’m talking...
Read moreThe food was ok, and service was good excellent. I would say it is overpriced for the amount of food it is…I still can’t believe I paid $2 for a small cup of refrito. The esquites were average, they felt like hot canned corn with a little bit of mayo and queso fresco, it was also overpriced. The nopales tacos was good, it had a great presentation, but it wasn’t flavorful I added refried beans to it and it fixed a bit. Also, their cilantro sauce was really good, it would have matched perfectly with the taco. The chimichanga was also good but again it needed more flavor, also the tomato sauce it comes with was average, so I would recommend to try one of their sauces. For dessert I had the churro with ice cream, the churro was a little burned and it isn’t two average scoops of ice cream it was two small scoops. The portion is for one person (they didn’t have the Elote ice cream, which was a bummer I was looking forward to it). On average it was good but it doesn’t stand out, plus parking is...
