If Dairy Queen wanted to open a comedy show instead of an ice cream shop, this San Marcos location nailed the audition. The girl at the drive-thru looked like she had just rolled out of a drug recovered nap she didnât finish barely able to mumble words, barely able to hand anything out the window, everything in slow motion like a bad TikTok filter. Our Blizzards? Melted ice cream soup with zero sign of the âextra chocolate, pecans, or cookie doughâ we paid for. They couldnât even manage the signature upside-down test probably because the cup wouldâve spilled everywhere.
When I spoke to the manager, instead of fixing the problem, she chose to argue. Her big solution? Hold up a spoon to demonstrate how âsmall the scoops are.â Translation: âwe didnât give you any, but hereâs a prop.â Thatâs not customer service thatâs laziness dressed up as policy. If thatâs the level of leadership here, then maybe management training should start with a reminder that customers donât come for excuses, they come for ice cream.
This DQ used to be a solid stop. Now itâs just a lesson in how to run a business into the ground: unprofessional staff, melted product, and management with more excuses than solutions. Save yourself the disappointment this location clearly doesnât care anymore.
If I wanted melted ice cream and an argument, I wouldâve stayed home and opened my freezer. But instead I will never get this time back, and WILL NEVER GO TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN. If youâre reading this...
Read moreI can see why this location is not busy during peak hours. Had a horrible experience and will not come back to this location in the future. Before ordering, we inquired about the chicken fried steak sandwich, not ordering it, only asking a question about it. The cashier (Krystal G) inputs it in for the order. I proceeded to tell her we werenât ordering it and to remove it. Now all she is thinking about is steak. My husband and I both ordered chicken strip combos, stating the word âchickenâ more than once. Silly me for not checking the screen. Our food comes and itâs steak fingers. We told her we ordered chicken strips, not steak fingers. She says all she heard was steak. Apparently all this is expected when every place in town is run by college students, so lesson learned. We were planning to just keep both steak finger boxes and pay for one chicken finger box, as my husband is Hindu and cannot eat beef. We were first offered a refund, but my husband kindly declined and asked if he could just have the chicken instead. They did give us a chicken strip combo and took back one of the steak strip combos, which is fine. Food was hot, but thatâs about the only positive. Also, about 20 of the 28 drinks in the soda machine were out so we were given cans of soda. Itâs ridiculous that the employees are very aware of the drink machine being empty, but still proceed to give people their cup and send them to the machine without a...
Read moreI have been to San Marcos a few times and wanted to stop here.
Last time they were closed but Google said they were open. Oh well.
This time they were open at 9:20 and I went in ready to eat and get back home.
No one greeted me when I walked in but they were talking to a customer.
The restroom was dirty but hey, itâs Sat night. There is a Hiring poster on the door⌠cut them a break.
I get back to the counter. No one.
An employee is eating with his back to me, I donât bother him, he never notices me.
Tables by the restroom were dirty with leftovers, so I tour the dining room before I consider ordering.
There is not one table or both that isnât dirtyâŚ
I go back to the counter and study the menu⌠no one knows Iâm hereâŚ
I decided to leave and write this review to remind me to forget this place is here.
Inside it looks like a dumpster exploded.
So if itâs dirty where I can see, whatâs the kitchen like? Do they care?
If youâve worked in a restaurant before you probably know the answer.
They are overworked and underpaid and they could care less.
Probably lucky I didnât eat here.
I wonât forget to skip this dump next time Iâm hungry in San Marcos. They probably have protein bars and water at the Shell across the street....
