We went to San Marcos to visit and decided to stop in and pick up some manske rolls as we sometimes do when we are there, we had never had a problem with this establishment before, until today. We got to our destination and decided to have our manske rolls and boy were we so DISAPPOINTED they were so HARD and tasted OLD!!! I called this establishment and asked for the name of the person who answered the phone but he refused to give me his name so I asked him if I could please speak to a Manager and he informed me he was a Manager but told me that he didn't have to give out his name so I asked him who else other then him was in charged and he informed me that he didn't come in until later. I asked, we'll just call him (John Dick), if I can have the name of the Manager so when I call back I know who to ask for, he still insisted on telling me that he didn't have to give me his or the Manager's name. He was so rude, and just kept telling me that if I wanted to place an order or pick up an order because there were other people that he needed to attend to. I informed him that the manske rolls that I had just purchased were HORRIBLE AND tasted OLD. All he said was just bring them back and we will refund your money, not even I'm sorry for your experience. We just had the WORST EXPERIENCE with Customer Service and the WORST experience with the Manske rolls. I will NEVER go back there and will spread my experience everywhere I can. I would give it NO STARS if I could, this place and their manske rolls are going...
Read moreThis place is akin to a "shotgun" house in New Orleans . . . narrow and long. Booths line the wall opposite the order counter and Manske Rolls display case. The hallway does open up in the back to a small room with beer taps and TVs.
Ordered a half lb. original burger with cheese and onion rings. Get your own drinks from the soda fountain area with off brand cola, orange soda, etc. The burgers were served kinda sorta warm wrapped in butcher paper. As far as taste, let's say first that the onion rings are excellent. These are the homemade variety and very tasty. The hamburger, however, came with, could it be Miracle Whip? Either that or the bun was sweet. Either way, sweet accouterments and hamburgers should be mutually exclusive existing edibles. If I wanted a dessert burger, I would have had them slap a patty between two of their Manske rolls. Fortunately I had asked for the addition of mustard which, along with the pickles help nullify the existence of any sweet taste.
Decided to buy 4 of the rolls for about $10! Sure hope these glorified cinnamon rolls are as good as they claim they are. Otherwise, I agree with some of the other reviewers that the burgers are very average and the rolls overpriced. Probably not a spot I would return to unless it were for some of the rolls . . . and that may still be a long shot. (Update - the rolls were nothing special, just big and needing...
Read moreFirst there is no parking, so I drove around three times looking for parking, then I pulled into icy rolls to get a mocha frap and then went down to get a manske roll since it had been 20 years since we moved from San Marcos and it was my husband's only request for me to bring back from my trip. But the rolls where not done so I waited 15 minutes which was worthy because the rolls are amazing! But my rental car was towed. The signs by icy rolls do not say anything except that the parking lot is city parking lot. It does not include what businesses are allowed to use said lot. I was told that by noon the day I was there that they had already towed 100 cars. Seems to be some sort of scam going on with subway and the tow company and maybe the city. All the buisnesses in this block are connected. There is no way for someone to understand that it's not together when the whole block is one big building of multiple buisnesses. I don't understand a city that would treat visitors this way and cause businesses their customers because believe me I will NEVER go back to San Marcos and I guess I just had my last ever Manske Roll. Which is a shame.....and a shame on the city of...
