Amazing product, caramel seasalt is our favorite. My husband and I, along with two other couples look forward to our weekly dinner together and then we all walk to Rhea's almost every Friday night. We have encountered some not so friendly employees too many times. The college girls that work there are not friendly and seem to go out of their way to avoid any type of conversation or communication while serving us. I am hoping the owners will try to visit their establishment often enough to rectify this situation. This past Friday night ( April 14th) was an especially rough night to where I dread returning, but know we will. I feel like I'm living the Seinfeld episode of " The Soup Nazi" where you must stand obediently in line, not make a sound, and if you're good, you'll be served your ice cream. So sad.
One time we came in for our caramel seasalt and the employee that night said she was out of it. Which, based on its popularity, it has been out many times. We happened to ask if she could check in the back to make sure and she came back with a container in the back.
This Friday night someone whipped out a Rhea's Reward Card and she never offered us one. I made my husband and the other husbands go back inside to ask for one. The waitress said she was sorry that she meant to give us one. We've been eating at Rhea's probably since they opened in San Marcos and never knew there even was a...
Read moreWe went here for the 1st time largely because of the recommendation that we saw in a "University publication" of some sort. It rated Rhea's as the best...The ice cream is only okay... I can positively tell you that the butterfat here is less than 14%... by how much I don't know but 31 flavors is at 13-14% and that's at the bottom end of what I consider good ice cream. Below 12% qualifies as ice milk. Near 18% is Hagen-Daz & Coldstone. Rhea's flavors were not distinct and the number of flavors were limited. I did not find the ice cream to be a good value for the money... but hey, they're conveniently located next to the campus and that can count for a lot. If you have the time you can go to Rocky Mountain Factory in the Tanger Outlet mall. For the same $money you get a larger dip and it's near 16-18% butterfat. Sorry for the critique here... I will say that taste can be subjective and that most people's pallets can't tell the difference between 13% &...
Read moreIf being obsessed with Rhea's is wrong, then I don't ever want to be right. Legit, I have to convince myself not to go everyday. At Rhea's they don't just serve ice cream, they serve ice cream that touches you soul. I freaking swear their ice cream has the potential to manifest world peace. My favorite is the Affogato with Circus Animal Cookie, and sometimes Chocolate Milkshake thrown in their, too. One time I had a lavender and honey latté that was earth shattering. They also have vegan options if you're into that. Their eclectic flavors are enchanting. They come out with a special flavor every month, that patrons suggest. If they pick your flavor, I believe you get a pint of it FO FREE. (I'm forever waiting for when they pick my suggestion.) It's such a fun idea and a great way to spark community involvement. This month their special flavor is Peaches n Cream, and it is AMAZING. So go and get you some happiness because you definitely...
