Overall it was a disappointment. The atmosphere and service were spot on, but the food had a few issues.
We started out with Wagyu Dumplings and Escargot Bruschetta. The dumplings were good and flavorful. The escargot was very flavorful, but they hadn't been sufficiently washed and were grainy/sandy. You couldn't taste the dirt but you just felt it in your mouth. Next we split a Caesar salad. The salad was good, no issue.
For the main we decided to split the dry-aged Porterhouse. We ordered it medium rare. In addition we ordered a side baked potato and broccolini. The steak was presented already cut by the kitchen. The server did show us a cut of the beef and asked about the temperature. It was probably a little closer to rare than medium rare but we accepted that (much preferred versus overcooked). Upon first bite we noticed the steak had absolutely no seasoning (salt), none. That's literally all you need on a good dry-aged steak but it had none. Secondly, though the menu didn't say and we failed to ask, the dry-aging time was minimal on this steak. It had a very subtle blueish funk. I would guess it was dry aged for maybe 2 weeks tops.
Finally the steak was pretty tough. Part of this may have been due to it not resting sufficiently before being cut. I would recommend bringing it to the table, checking the temperature and then cutting table-side if all is ok.
Baked potato was good, no issues. The broccolini was presented completely unseasoned, no garlic, not salt. We asked about this and it was re-fired with garlic and salt and was excellent.
Finally for desert we split a crème brûlée. It was very good but the upper sugar crust was burnt in spots.
I know we may sound overly critical but my wife and I do appreciate fine food. When we go drop over $300 for a meal you would hope it would be near perfection and not just ok. The manager did come by to ask about our experience. We wanted to tell him but thought maybe we were being over critical since we had so many issues. Again, had we been at a run-of-the-mill restaurant we would have rated high, but a place like this should know better. Maybe we’re over critical or it was just...
Read moreWould have given 5 stars but I almost didn’t come back for my reservation. I would say don’t go on a Saturday evening after 7 there may be chaos even with reservations. Paige was amazing however let’s start from the beginning…Hosts were very rude and did not greet us at all. We stood in front of their face for 10 minutes with no words spoken at all. Not even to say that they were busy or behind. Even a manager came over and spoke with them about troubles in the restaurant and no words were spoken then either. After about 20 minutes I finally spoke up and asked them if someone was going to greet us and allow us to check in for our reservation. Granted, we were 20 minutes early but I figured on a Friday night it would be packed and I wanted to have our spot in line. They politely told me my table wasn’t ready yet and to have a drink at the bar until it was. I decided to go back to my car and recoup. I was taking my daughter out for a dinner date and she really wanted to try this so we stayed. We came back 2 minutes before reservation still were not greeted properly they just looked down at the screen and started fumbling with menus so I assumed they were about to seat us. They sat us promptly.
Now back to Paige! Extensive knowledge of menu. Catered to our every desire and recommended great dishes. We were never without water in our cups and table was cleaned after every course. I had the two bone in filets which were cooked perfectly medium & the salmon potatoes were to die for. The only thing I didn’t care for was the mushroom risotto very mushy texture. The au gratin could’ve used a bit more flavor. The French 75 was on point and the sticky toffee was awesome! The manager checked on us once and he was very nice as well. I was in ATL with my bf for my birthday. We wanted to find a place that had an outdoor dining area due to COVID. We were going to a different restaurant in that same plaza but they were short staffed and closed their outdoor patio. I'm so glad they did because we found this place down the street.
Fancier than I plan but the menu had pretty reasonable prices on certain items.
Hamachi: started of with this hamachi dish. Now, I normally don't go for raw fish but I made an exception. I love hamachi Kama (grilled fish cheek) and my bf really wanted to try it so I went with it. This did not taste like fish which was fantastic. It was almost acidic-ally cooking in ponzu sauce. It had this mix of mango chunks that made the whole combination of flavors amazing.
Wagyu dumplings: I liked the dumplings and the meat but could've done away with them soaking completely in the soy sauce. This didn't bother me with my overall experience cuz there were so many other good dishes.
9oz ribeye: cooked to a perfect medium. Just a great steak overall. My opinion is that you don't even need to go for the more expensive one. This was enough.
Chicken with brocollini: I could rave about this brocollini for days. The creamy orzo with the broccoli sold me. I loved it in combination of the crispy skin of the chicken and the juicy meat. Yumm
Asparagus: pretty good but should've probably tried the creamy corn instead on their menu. Should've looked at yelp before I ordered
Chocolate chip skillet cake: I would go back just to have this dessert. The outside of the cookie was crispy but the inside was ooey and gooey with melting chocolate chip. Made the perfect mix and end to the vanilla ice cream.
Service: absolutely phenomenal service. We loved our waiter. He was super knowledgeable, quick, no BS,...
