Tuffy's Music Box & Lounge — Restaurant in Sanford

We went there a year ago for a show and everything was great (food delicious, service, etc) so we were excited to go to a show there recently. They must've changed the food cause the menu was small and food was so so. The bartenders were great and had great service. I was a whole 1/2 beer into the night, so I didn't even have a buzz.

But the problem was with the security. A drunk couple, that was stubbling and reeked of liquor, that was a solid 20 years older than me (I'm early 40s) decided they were going to take my husband's seat while he was in the bathroom. I, the bartender, and a friend all told them it was someone's seat and he was in the bathroom. The bartender specifically said, "you will have to move". The wife began screaming f-bombs at me, then the husband got in my face. I asked for security because I'm a petit woman and he was a huge guy. Security came up and said I would be thrown out if WE didn't stop arguing. I told security that WE weren't arguing that the severely drunk couple was screaming at me (the drunks were still screaming in my face while talking with security). I even explained that the bartender told them to move. The security guard refused to do anything even though I was calm and polite while the other screamed cuss words. Then in another area, there was an actual fight and security never went over or removed the fighting groups.

If you can't have decent security, especially at a bar, in this day and age, you've permanently lost...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Tuffy's Bottle Shop and I am absolutely thrilled with my experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a unique charm that sets it apart from other establishments.

Tuffy's is a one of a kind bar/pub/restaurant in Sanford you really need to check out.

My favorite thing at Tuffy's is their poke; it's really amazing, so fresh, the best ever. The tuna is ultra fresh, tastes like the sea. The Maui onions, sweet as sugar, but just the right counter balance to everything else. There are crispy salty little seabeans that pop in your mouth, tastes like splash of seawater. The jalepenos, the vinaigrette of fish sauce, hoisin, soy & sesame oil, sesame seeds & green onions. It's just a perfect combination of spicy, sweet, salty & meaty. I know they have other good food, but every time I've ever been to Tuffy's I get the poke, because it's just that good.

The setting at Tuffy's is another bonus. It's very rustic; part indoor sports bar, tho I've never sat inside. They have live music & various events you can follow on their Facebook page. But we've always choosen to sit outside in the 'garden' area. It's quirky to say the least. There's an Airstream type trailer that's been converted into a cozy little private seating area for 5 or 6 ppl. They also have a pontoon house boat by waterfall that holds 8 or more, along with a number of picnic tables. What a great place to sit on a nice night & have a locally made craft beer or a cocktail along with some great pub style food.
