I've been to Pinocchio's many times. But this is my first time leaving a review for them. I love their new location in Periwinkle Place.
Tonight, I had a single cup of the Double Dark Chocolate. My mom and my husband both had the Sol De Mar (dark chocolate with caramel swirl). Both flavors were amazing.
The place was super busy, even on a Wednesday evening on the summer... And there were just two servers. But both guys kept their cool and served everyone with a friendly demeanor.
The only thing I didn't like is that there weren't explanations of the flavors on the name cards. You know how in some places they have flavors and mix-ins listed on the flavor cards? Pinocchio's currently doesn't have this. You need to ask the servers for explanations of the flavors i.e. "Purple Cow" is black raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips as a mix-in.
Although, P.S. they do offer free samples of your trying to decide between flavors.
This is my favorite I've cream on the island. The are currently (2 years after Hurricane Ian) three ice cream places on Sanibel, and Pinocchio's is my favorite.
The ice cream flavors are stellar, creative (with classic standbys, of course), and creamy. They have 45 topping options (including different nuts, candies, and sauces). And the quality of the ice cream is great...flavorful, indulgent,...
Read moreWhile the location is not convenient for many people visiting Sanibel, I would recommend making the bike ride out to Pinocchio's at least once during your vacation because it is great ice cream.
I have been going to Sanibel since I was a child but we never visited Pinocchio's till our most recent visit. This is likely the result of its location being inconvenient for most of the places I have stayed and our lack of awareness about how great its ice cream taste. Upon the insistence of some friends we met at Sanibel, we took a trip to purchase some ice cream. I and another member of my family decided to order the Beachwalk sundae to share because we were not that hungry. When we saw how large the sundae was we initially regretted our choice because it was a much larger serving than we were expecting (not necessarily a bad thing). Once we tasted the explosion of flavor that results from eating the Dirty Sand Dollar ice cream every bit of regret faded away. I still cannot believe that we received so much quality ice cream for the price but next time I will simply order the Dirty Sand Dollar ice...
Read moreThe guy that waited on me was very rude. The place was packed and hard to get inside to get in line. They have 3 cases of ice cream with strange names and no explanation as to what the flavors are. We had 4 adults and 4 kids (8, 6, 4,1) and all they did was rush us to hurry and decide and hurry and move up to the register. I ask what a few of the flavors were and he was very short and rude with me. We had never been there and I had no idea what flavor I wanted. I ordered a 2 flavor waffle cone and I am not even sure if I got 1 small scoop of the 2nd flavor on my cone. My grandson ordered a 1 flavor cone and he had twice as much ice cream as I did. Very disappointing visit. We passed DQ and Zebras on the way there and am now wishing I had stopped and tried Zebras or just went to DQ. My son in law didn't even get any ice cream because he was so irritated with the service and all. Probably...
