I was the on the way to Starbucks for a cold brew when I passed by Little Bean on foot and noticed the painted cold brew murals outside. Expecting a Santa Monica local coffee shop to be steeply priced, I stopped to check Google for pricing and reviews. The full 5 star average seemed too good to be true but the prices were relatively on par if not a bit cheaper than the competition. All else equal, I much prefer to try local shops so I aborted my Starbucks run and I’m so glad I did. Right upon entering the customer service was phenomenal and they happily explained the menu with an obvious passion for their work. They recommended the medium roast cold brew (I’ve never seen a coffee place with 3 cold brew roast options) and it was perfectly balanced and extremely delicious with rich, deep flavor. So many coffee shops charge way too much for a lackluster, watered down cup but Little Bean is not one of them. The ice level was spot on! Deserving of every 5 star review not only for the outstanding, personal customer service but also for the best cup of cold brew coffee I’ve ever had. I look forward to returning when work brings me back to the area and I’m happy I signed up for the loyalty...

Chris is one of the most skilled coffee curator and barista that I ever met. He can deftly switch from a regular pour over to making the same coffee Turkish style, or have it as a cold brew or espresso. This level of skill and consistency takes many years of mastery.
Also, being owner driven, the service is impeccable and warm. It's rare to find prices that are so approachable, especially. not on the westside. For the quality, LBCB could charge 50% more, however I suspect the goal is to be a good neighbor.
It's kid friendly, and there's a beautiful space with games and books to drink your coffee in peace.
I've also had great experience buying beans that make excellent cappuccino, cold brew that is delicious as is.
If I were designing a coffee experience, this would be it. I wouldn't change a thing about how it's run or what they offer. Give it a try, you may find yourself addicted!
Tip: Try the award winning sapphire cold brew. Tip: There's free parking for 3 vehicles, closer to Lincoln Ave. Tip: Make sure to use the kiosk to...
Read moreWe were staying on Pico in Santa Monica and passed this place a few times— it was very unassuming. Went inside and there was a bit of an unconventional ordering process but after speaking with the owner I see why. Full disclosure I am not even a big coffee drinker we stopped in for my boyfriend to get a cold brew coffee. But we really got a tasting experience and the owner is so passionate about his product that it sucked me in. He gave us a tasting of all 3 of his blends, and we ended up ordering the Blue, with just a hint of sweetener. When I tell you I had NO CLUE that coffee could have notes of blueberry, I am not joking. I was skeptical about this much fanfare around a cup of cold brew coffee but damn. It was the best tasting cup of coffee I have ever had. He didn’t even want it to be diluted with ice so he shook it with ice before giving it to us. The guy was excited to answer questions about blending beans/roasts to get just the right flavor. I love when someone is passionate about their craft. When we come back to Santa Monica we will...
