The food is good, sandwich selection is limited to two items (that are very good, very filling), which is understandable since they're known for their breads and pastries. I find their cashiers to be hospitable. The atmosphere seems to be people who come in for a really quick bite/drink. People do seem to work on their computers there. But because it's an upscale establishment, you might feel like you have to move on quickly, and, so you might feel awkward by staying over 30-45 minutes.
I'd give it a solid 4/5, since a 5/5 for me would be if it was something of a plush dive where you could loiter for hours (while) working...

Having been a long-time resident of San Francisco, I am thrilled to see Tartine make its way to Santa Monica. Your baked goods are truly exceptional.
However, I wanted to share a couple of observations regarding parking and pricing. The underground parking and elevator access can be a bit inconvenient for customers. Additionally, the cost of $32.00 for four Pain au Chocolats, along with the 'mandatory' 15% minimum tip, may be a consideration for some patrons.

The colors are positive and give you energy. Once you start ordering you realize the energy is emanating from the people that work there.
