My sister and went and were not impressed. We ordered the only salad available and fish and chips. If fish and chips is not right I can't trust the rest of the menu. The environment was Ok. I understand it is a pub and it can be loud but on this weekday evening there were 3 parties and ourselves. 1 guy was holding court in his party. I could barely hear my sister and definitely could not hear others. Only this one dude. Acoustics in that area felt like this dude was holding a lecture or meeting. I could hear him loud and clear.
As for the fish and chips, The batter was blackened (burnt) but the actual fish was tasty and the chips were obviously twice fried or even thrice fried. Super chewy salty and not really edible. Seeing the pictures of what our food was supposed to look like based on other patrons photos, I may give it another try knowing we were probably given the remains of what they had. I like consistency and attention to detail. Which I feel lacked on this evening. They don't have straws or to go containers for non alcoholic beverages.
The salad was good but the walnuts taste like they've been dipped in industrial lube. I had to remove from the salad. It left the salad unbalanced and too acidic needing the sweetness of the candied walnuts out.
Wish I had pictures but was not intending to write a review. Only when I saw pictures later that we definitely did not get the food as it was intended, did I feel compelled to...

Don't let the fact that its a bar fool you, the food is delicious and I've brought my toddler here for early dinners multiple times.
This is one of my favorite places to get Fish and Chips. Fries appear to be handcut and the pieces of fish are large and the cod in the fish is plentiful and fresh tasting. They offer two types of sauce to pair with the fish a traditional tartar sauce and curry sauce. Both are good. The curry is light and on the sweeter side.
Ploughman's Platter - If you are looking for a cold plate with a good helping of cheese this is the dish for you. The chunks of cheddar and blue cheese are plentiful. Salad is well dressed and the pickled vege is plentiful and cuts the cheese very well.
Guinness Braised Beef - This small pie is mighty in its delivery. The beef is plentiful and flavorful. Sauce is on the saltier side.
One of the best desserts you will have is the Sticky Toffee Pudding at Goose & Fern. It takes 15 minutes to prepare. Comes out warm and moist with a caramel sauce on top. Highly recommend.
I had their Posset which was the first time I had it. It was Lemon with a Blackcurrent jam on top. Refreshing and cool, great dessert...
