We live in a face- paced world where we even have drive- thru for banks and dry cleaners. Needless to say, I find apps that are designed to expedite ones life, such as Postmate and Instacart, very handy. I'm perpetually in a hurry and I find myself relying on these apps as they allow me to keep track of the order process in real time.
I placed the order on Postmate at 3:41pm and it showed the estimated time of delivery at 3:51pm, which is very acceptable. I checked to make sure that the app showed that Anny's confirmed the order before I even left the house. I arrived at 4pm - just to give them a few extra minutes - and walked up to the counter.
There were two young workers at the register: a guy who seemed to be in his late teens and a girl with red and black hair. They were talking animatedly and it was a few moments before they even acknowledged me (actually, the guy had to motion towards me with his eyes before the girl even looked my direction). I advised her that I was there to pickup an order, but she seems completely baffled. I tell her helpfully that it's via Postmate. She says, "Ohhh..." and checks a different screen and JUST THEN prints out the order. She then proceeds to lie to me and tell me that it'll just be a few minutes as she sticks the order on the rail.
I try my best to hide my frustration as time slowly passes. There is absolutely no sense of urgency with any of the staff. They take their time, they joke, they laugh, and I seethe.
It's 4:13pm by the time I receive my order; a full 22 minutes later than I was promised. What really upset me enough to write a review is that there was never an apology or even an update until I asked.
Thanks to the staff's laziness and not checking for incoming orders as well as the kitchen staff's inability to expedite an already- late order, I arrived at work full six minutes late, which has never happened before.
As for the food, it's good. Anny's always had good burgers and I like their Buffalo Chicken burger (which reminds me of Zaxby's) and the perfectly seasoned waffle fries.
However, good service at a restaurant is so very important to many people. I mean, how else can you explain Applebee's and Hooter's staying in business with their subpar cuisine?
Needless to say, I won't be returning...

I have visited here a couple of times as well as their Kearny Mesa location. This dining room area is relatively smaller in comparison, but the neighborhood restaurant has enough space to accommodate several families and beer buddy groups. There are also common area patio tables within the Santee Trolley Square food court area by the MTS station. Ample parking spaces too.
Received a friendly greeting as I walked in. Checked out their chalkboard menu as well as the giant printed wall menu. Noticed some craft beers on tap.
Took me a moment to decide on my to-go order because of the menu choices and options. Wifey got a Sand Dune and our Mini-Meez got their cheeseburger kids meals. This time I tried their Korean bbq steak sandwich. This craveable snack is hefty and could be a messy knife-and-fork meal for some to share. The bread held up well against the cheesy melty peppers and onions in the to-go box. Tender steak bites were tasty. For whatever reason my buds tasted more sweet teriyaki flavors over savory bulgogi vibes. Mini-me 2.0 wanted to check out the Bacon Cheese Fries. It's a good portion. I'd probably enjoy them more at dine-in because the fries don't stay crispy after getting smothered and covered for the...
Read moreI love Annys Burgers. I was here when they first moved in Santee. At that time In and Out was the only place to go for burgers. When Annie's moved in I tried them and the first burger I ever tried was the sand dune burger. Its so unbelievably good that I almost don't get anything else. Over the years I have tried every other burger on the menu at least once but the sand dune burger is the one I always go back to. The menu has expanded to wings and different kinds of fries and they serve beer. It's such a good place to eat. The burgers really are what you would call gourmet burgers. You can even modify them. The burgers are huge and they're hot and fresh and they've kept it this way for a long time. They are made to order. It takes a little bit longer to get your order because they're made to order but when you get it it's so good that the wait was so worth it. They don't just sit under a burner forever while they push out other orders like other restaurants. Annys is a step above. I absolutely love the place and I would tell anyone to go there if you...
