Morris Diner & Pancake House — Restaurant in Saratoga Township

I'll give it 3 stars but its probably closer to 2 on this particular night. I WILL say, that I have been here several times and I drive well over an hour to get here each time and the food and service have always been amazing. Tonight was NOT the case. The hostess and waitress were not the least bit pleasant. They were out of 2 of the 4 kinds of soup. When the waitress did bring the soup she spilled it on the table. She brought back napkins for me to clean it up, with no apology. When she did bring the entree it was warm at most. Usually the meal is out before I finish my soup, a good 10 minutes passed after I had finished. The gravy had a film on it indicating it had been sitting for quite a while. I ordered steamed broccoli and carrots as my side, I got one stem piece of broccoli and 4 baby carrots. They were COLD. The taste of the meal, other than being cold, was good as always. I made a special trip up here tonight and was deeply disappointed. But I must say, this is not ordinary for this restaurant, usually it is spot on and delicious. Portion sizes are very large, even for the smaller meals. You definitely get what you pay for and then some, even dessert to go. I'm hoping everyone was just having a bad Monday, but I should have stayed home. NOTE: If I were to star this from past experiences it would absolutely be 5 stars. So, I had already left a review regarding the degrading service we received at R place. So, we left and found this little jewel! Looks like R Place has some stiff competition now! As we walked in we were greeted by a kind gentleman who seated us, got us a high chair, and a picture for my toddler to color. We were immediately brought menus and asked what we wanted to drink. The waitress was so kind and pleasant in comparison to the other one at R Place. She even let me try the BBQ sauce before I ordered the ribs and chicken. Our drinks and appetizers arrived earlier than expected! And she also got my side salad and some bread to the table immediately after we ordered! My husband ordered the chickenext alfredo, my toddler has the fruit pancakes, and I got the chicken and ribs. We also ordered the potato skins which were larger than we expected-bonus! It was so refreshing to go to a restaurant where we were not treated as a burden. My ribs were great but if i had a complaint my chicken breast was a little bland. So, I just added butter and parmasean cheese to give it better flavor. Everything was cooked to perfect temperature. We even got free dessert with our meals! Also, we paid a fraction of what we would have paid at R Place for better service, equally tasting food, and huge portions. I was so pleased that I gave the waitress an extra tip! When we get back to Morris I know where we will be eating again. I still enjoy R Place's ambiance but this gave us far superior service...

Greek restaurants are always the best. Because, they serve everything, and do it well! The owners in this eatery are amazing. They have interesting stories to tell! And, they were familiar with my old stomping grounds in Chicago on Lincoln Lawrence and Western. That being said, the food was delicious, my wife is on a limited diet because of allergies. And her salad and soup was fantastic! My breakfast platter lol, was almost too big for me to finish. Portions were monstrous! My glass was never empty, and there was always some excellent conversation. I would definitely go back if I was in the area again, unfortunately we don't get through there too often. But I saw an opportunity to support a local business, and I'm happy to do so. The kindness, the ambience, the concern, the service, and the food, all at the top of the list! They even have the TVs going with the latest news and professional sports games. Stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Also, if you go on Facebook, there's two different accounts for this restaurant, the new ownership has the Facebook account with the sort of chunky chef statue. That's the right one!

Oh, and the bathrooms...
