It was not a good night for the four of us. The Chardonnay arrived almost hot. I smelled it in the glass and it smelled wonderful - then I took a taste and it was so warm, I chocked. I told the nice waiter ' this must have been sitting outside in the 100 degree heat in a box - feel the bottle'. He brought an ice bucket but the two of us in our party could not drink it as it was so warm/hot. We asked for a glass of ice. When we put the ice cubes in the wine, they instantly melted. We showed the waiter. Never once did he say let me try a different name of wine. Next we ordered cod cheeks. It came with french fries that looked and tasted like they came out of a bag that we had purchased frozen at Costco. Terrible fries for an upscale dinner. I had the salmon - it was tolerable. One of us had the pork chop and it was delicious. Another had the filet and he said the texture was really really odd. He got up from the table right after finishing it and said that was enough of that restaurant - he couldn't take it anymore. He went out front and sat in one of the chairs while we ate the desert we had already ordered and quickly asked for the bill. It was the worst dinner we have ever had in Scottsdale - especially for the price of $ 700. The waiter was nice so I gave him 20% then later thought that it was stupid as he did nothing to correct the hot chardonnay. Finding an ice bucket and brining ice cubes and feeling the bottle - he should have known better. Will...
Read moreI used to love House Brasserie but had such a bad experience last night that we actually left before even placing our dinner order. Our reservation was at 5:45 and our server didn’t even come greet us for 10 minutes. As she greeted us, the last person in our party was just arriving so we asked for a couple minutes to look at the drink menu. This was a mistake. She didn’t come back again for another 20 minutes. We put in our drink and appetizer order once she finally came back. Our wine took probably another 10 minutes to arrive because she broke the first cork and had to fetch another bottle. As soon as appetizers came, she asked us to place our dinner order which we weren’t exactly ready to do, so we asked again for a COUPLE minutes. She didn’t come back again for another 30 minutes. When she finally came back after multiple attempts to flag her down, we just asked for the check. She asked why and I simply told her that our reservation was at 5:45 and it’s now 7PM and youre just now checking in to take our dinner order. We spoke with the manager and he was not apologetic at all and said we refused service twice. In what world is checking in on a table TWICE in an hour and 15 minutes okay? Will not be back and will tell...
Read moreWe tried The House Brasserie for the first time tonight and was pleased for the most part. The one major issue we had was my husbands pork chop dish. The first bite he took had a large piece of anchovy. No where in the description did it say that, otherwise he would have asked for it to be removed, because he does not care for them. After picking out several chunks the waiter came by asked and how it was. My husband asked if that was anchovy and he said he wasn't sure and would check. He quickly returned and said there was no seafood in the dish and might be the couscous (which was actually wheat berry) or the ginger apple. By the end of the meal he has several large pieces pushed to the side and asked the busser who removed his plate to please check. He came back and said yes there was anchovies. The lack of sever knowledge or inconsistency in information was definitely disappointing and did take over his whole palate for dinner and even into dessert. We also noticed every item was served room temp, which just may be their preference. We will give it another shot, but double check ingredients...
