My husband and I visited this coffee shop on 31 July 2022. The rating that I gave was not due to the taste of our coffee as our coffee was good, and the young man taking the orders was really nice, but merely because of the carelessness towards our order. We ordered two coffees, I asked for oat milk in my coffee my husband asked for almond milk in his coffee, because he’s extremely dairy sensitive when it comes to milk and cheese. However when the barista was making the coffee for my husband I saw that it look like and I caught the end of it he could’ve been using whole milk because I know what most almond milk and alternative milk bottles look like at coffee shops. So, I told my husband ask him to make sure that he didn’t use whole milk and he actually used almond milk. Mu husband walks up to the counter and tells him this is supposed to be almond milk are you sure that it’s almond milk. He assured him twice that it was almond milk fast-forward about an hour my husband ends up in the bathroom for about 2 to 3 hours because it in fact was not almond milk it was definitely whole milk. So, just be careful that when you are asking for an alternative milk that you watch your drink be made because if you are sensitive to dairy like my husband and I are you will definitely regret it. The inside of the coffee shop gets extremely packed and the space becomes very small and really loud. It was so loud that the guy taking orders could barely understand what I was saying, and continuously said what did you say, huh, and misunderstood what we were asking for. However I know that he did not get our order wrong because he did repeat back eventually the...
Read moreMy favorite coffee spot in all of Scottsdale. Coffee: syrups are made in house, I think this truly sets them apart from other spots because you can taste the difference between theirs and torani or le monin. The quality is sooo much better. I love that they offer macadamia milk too, I’ve never seen another spot offer this which is a great milk alternative that gives a nutty flavor and is just as creamy as oat.
Service: 12/10. I love the reward program here which gives you a free drink after every 10 purchases. All of the baristas are so kind and really know their craft. The lines can be long, but they work fast. I appreciate Berdena’s consistency most of all. Even at their busiest, the baristas give top notch service and have never messed up or given us a bad coffee in the 2 years we’ve been stopping here.
Atmosphere: It’s a small coffee shop, it can be hard to find seating but most people get their order to go so it’s fine. I like the bar seating near the entrance, it has outlets for if you need to work.
Food: Their pastries are amazing, it’s always so tempting to grab one. My favorites are the cinnamon roll, breakfast cookie, blueberry scone and the cheese danishes. I’ve only ever had their burrito and avocado toast because I don’t eat pork, however I have heard others say their sandwich is also amazing. My only comment for improvement would be to offer non pork meat options like turkey bacon or chicken sausage! Even if it was an extra charge, I’d pay lol.
Overall, I can say with certainty this is the best coffee in Scottsdale. I’ve tried others but every time I’m reminded why this...
Read moreAfter coming to Berdena’s for years because of the great coffee and vibe, unfortunately my last few visits have compelled me to write a review. I feel like the place is going down hill, not because of the breakfast or vibe but because the last few months the employees have made it more and more difficult for me to keep returning. I think today was the final straw for me. I usually order a cold brew with extra almond milk anywhere I go and here they have you put in the almond milk yourself after the cold brew is ready which is not the norm at most coffee shops but whatever that doesn’t bother me. However, they fill the coffee to the brim with no room to add your own milk. So i started pouring the milk myself which was not enough anyways, the coffee started spilling over the cup. Employees reluctantly cleaned it up after i apologized for the mess with no acknowledgement of the apology. Then i went to grab the cup to put the lid on, and more spilled unfortunately and got eyes rolling back behind their head and snarky comment about how napkins are available to clean it up. It’s not the first time this type of attitude has happened and I get it it’s probably chaotic and they have a lot on their plate because of how busy it is. However, it’s no excuse to treat customers like this. Why am I paying extra for almond milk when i can’t even put a centimeter of it into my drink myself? Also isn’t it your job to make the coffee how it’s ordered? 😅 Sorry, i don’t think...
