I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal, an authentic Indian restaurant that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality, and it was evident that the owner truly values the customer experience.

The owner of the restaurant was exceptionally helpful, guiding us through the extensive menu and recommending dishes that perfectly suited our preferences. Their knowledge of the cuisine was remarkable, and it made our dining experience all the more enjoyable.

The food was not only delicious but also served promptly, showcasing the restaurant's efficiency in the kitchen. Every dish we ordered was a burst of flavors, showcasing the rich and diverse culinary heritage of India. The spices were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients were fresh, resulting in dishes that were both authentic and delightful. From the flavorful curries to the tantalizing appetizers and mouthwatering desserts, every bite was a culinary delight.

In addition to the exceptional food and excellent service, the owner's personal touch truly made our evening memorable. Their passion for sharing the essence of Indian cuisine with their patrons was palpable, and it reflected in every aspect of our dining experience.

We are already planning our next visit to Taj Mahal, as we are eager to indulge in the delightful flavors of India once again. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delightful Indian dining experience. The combination of delicious food, welcoming ambiance, quick service, and the owner's attentive approach creates a memorable journey for your taste buds. We can't wait to come back for another...

5-Star Review:

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Taj Mahal Restaurant & Lounge in Scottsdale, AZ, and I can honestly say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. While the food, drinks, and ambiance were absolutely top-notch, what truly made the evening unforgettable was the outstanding service provided by Waris.

Waris, who usually works at the Prescott location, was filling in at the Scottsdale location—and let me tell you, this young man went above and beyond in every possible way. From the moment we sat down, his professionalism, warmth, and genuine passion for hospitality shined through. He made us feel welcomed and valued, took the time to walk us through the menu, and made excellent recommendations. It was clear that he wasn’t just serving tables—he was creating an experience.

The food was absolutely phenomenal—every dish was rich with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The butter chicken, lamb biryani, and freshly baked naan were all highlights, and the drinks were equally impressive, pairing perfectly with the meal.

But even with such incredible food and ambiance, it was Waris’ exceptional service that stood out the most. His positive attitude and dedication to his work reflect so well on Taj Mahal Restaurant & Lounge, and I truly hope his efforts are recognized. He is a shining example of what great service should look like, and I would love to see him become Employee of the Month—he absolutely deserves it!

Thank you, Waris, and thank you, Taj Mahal Restaurant & Lounge, for an evening I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to return and will be recommending this place to...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at an Indian restaurant that exceeded all my expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with traditional decor that added a touch of elegance. The establishment was impeccably clean, which made for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience.

The service was outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff who were more than happy to provide recommendations and ensure our meal was perfect. Gil and Oscar were entertaining the entire night. Now, onto the food:

The Chicken Tikka Masala was a standout dish, featuring tender pieces of chicken in a creamy, flavorful tomato-based sauce. It had just the right amount of spice, making it a delight for the taste buds. The Butter Naan and Jalapeños Naan were the perfect accompaniments. The Butter Naan was soft, fluffy, and buttery, while the Jalapeños Naan added a delightful kick with its spicy, tangy jalapeño slices.

The Chicken Bhuna was another highlight. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the bhuna sauce was rich and aromatic with a deep, savory flavor. It paired wonderfully with the naan and rice.

Finally, the Lamb Boti Masala was a treat. The lamb was succulent and cooked just right, enveloped in a rich and creamy masala sauce that was both comforting and indulgent.

Overall, this restaurant provided an exceptional dining experience with its delicious food, welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, and excellent service. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic...

Update: we’ve been several times now and again today for lunch. Always great service and food. Gil is always a pleasure as well as everyone we interact with. Today Freddy and Vero took care of us, fantastic. If you want delicious food and great service be sure to check Taj Mahal out! Amazing food , fantastic service, tonight truly was a lovely night. Everyone was friendly and our server Oscar was so helpful with my dietary restrictions. My spouse and I have never eaten here but we’ve walked past it many times. I’m glad I told him this is where we were eating tonight because it was so darn good. I had the coconut mojitos (highly recommend) the tikka masala w/ rice and papadum. I have celiac and cannot eat gluten (all their entrees are gluten free) since I couldn’t eat the Naan (which they had many options) I opted for papadum which is a crispy flat cracker made of lentil flour and so flavorful. My entire meal was like a warm hug in the form of food- absolutely loved it. Oscar was awesome. And Gill (chef, owner I think) is a hoot, he’s so personable and funny. I told my spouse tonight’s dinner was one of the best meals we’ve had in a while - we’re foodies for sure and eat pretty tasty food (within my parameters) but our food tonight, checked all the boxes. Thank you Taj Mahal!

3/5 — Great Cocktails, Okay Food, Poor Owner Experience Food was okay — nothing exceptional, though the cocktails were great. The menu is limited, and while the pricing felt a bit steep, it’s understandable given the location in the heart of Scottsdale Downtown. Service from the staff was excellent — the girls who served us were friendly, attentive, and did a fantastic job. Definitely a 5/5 for their service. However, the experience took a turn when a gentleman, who claimed to be the owner, began upselling excessively and speaking more than listening. We ordered Paneer Tikka Masala, expecting it to be made with grilled, tikka-style paneer as he described. That wasn’t the case — the paneer wasn’t grilled and lacked the tikka flavor. When we raised the issue, instead of acknowledging it or offering a solution, he responded dismissively, saying, “Show me a restaurant in the valley that serves food this delicious.” That’s not the kind of response you’d expect, especially after spending $500 for a group of 7. Constructive feedback should be met with professionalism, not deflection. Because of this interaction, I wouldn’t return.
