We came to Moxies this past weekend for a bachelorette party. We had a reservation at 8pm, and were sat at around 8:15pm (this is totally fine and we weren’t upset—things happen!). I do want to preface before I begin— our waitress was absolutely awesome, and this review is not a reflection upon her, as she was incredibly attentive and did her job well.
We ordered drinks, two of us got the Aperol Spritz and it was a $15 drink. Now again, our server was absolutely amazing and she did exactly what we asked, but when we received the drink, it was a pale orange. I should’ve taken a photo, but it slipped my mind that night since I was supposed to be focused on the bride to be. For those unfamiliar— a pale orange color is an indicator that it is mainly club soda. Upon tasting— it tasted as though someone watered down prosecco and whispered the word “orange” into my drink. The correct, and industry standard ratio for an Aperol spritz is 3:2:1 (prosecco, Aperol, club soda). I wouldn’t normally complain, however this is a $15 drink, and in this economy— now you’re playing in my face. So, we ask our lovely waitress for an extra shot of Aperol to make it at least drinkable. She understood our frustration, saw the issue clear as day, and made it happen. Now again, we were under the assumption that it was going to be comped because— now say it with me folks— it wasn’t made right in the first place. Again, the only reason I’m saying anything is because $15 for an Aperol spritz is insane work— ESPECIALLY for it to not be made correctly the first time.
We were charged $11 for those two (HALF SHOTS MIGHT I ADD) of Aperol.
Now, the drink is $20.50 for a normal, industry standard, Aperol spritz. Diabolical work. How I wish this could’ve gone differently was, off the rip—the drink be made correctly/ to industry standards. However, if that’s not going to happen, let a girl know that extra shot is going to be charged!! I would’ve just sucked it up, and drank Lacroix’s version of an Aperol spritz, if I knew I was gonna be charged $5.50 for a half shot of Aperol.
Mind you— a bottle of Aperol in AZ is about $30 for a 750ml bottle. If we do the math correctly here folks— for that $5.50 charge, we should’ve gotten approximately 142ml, which is equal to about 4.8 oz— 3.2 standard shots of Aperol. Quick refresher— we received a half shot each for $11. Now, I get we have to account for the bartender pouring it and also make a slight profit, but what an insane up-charge to not even give a full shot. For the future if this happens to anyone else—and Moxie’s you should know this too— our half shot of a $29.99 750ml bottle of Aperol, should’ve been $0.89 before tax, and a full shot $1.77 (This is also assuming they aren’t getting a discount of their liquor). And AGAIN, this is just us wanting our drink to be made the correct way.
Regardless of how I may come across in this, penny pinching isn’t my style. I’m just really trying to demonstrate the absurdity of the situation, and in this economy, up-charging people asking for their drink to be made correctly, is grimy. I don’t even want to blame the bartender, because it’s definitely their management forcing them to cut corners.
Moving on, we received our meal, and the flavoring for the Chicken Madeira Rigatoni was fantastic!! However, the pasta was straight up still al dente, or just before it, and was a tough chew. A couple of the other girls who got pasta at our table said the same thing. That was the only other issue I had with the meal—everything else was perfect, thanks to our waitress. Just leave the pasta in for the full time if you’re not going to finish the last 2 or so minutes of cooking in the sauce.
Overall, I am not saying don’t attend Moxies. The servers are all so so sweet, and the food does taste great. I’m thinking this has to be a management issue trying to cut corners to save a quick buck. If you would’ve allowed everyone to make their orders the correct way, and also not charge people for asking it to be made normally— I wouldn’t be here...

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Moxies Scottsdale Restaurant recently, and to say it was a memorable experience would be an understatement. The restaurant served as a delightful backdrop to an exceptional lunch, the memory of which we will cherish for years to come.
From the moment we stepped into Moxies, we were met with warmth and hospitality that was as comforting as it was endearing. The ambiance was a perfect blend of elegance and casual comfort, making us feel right at home from the get-go. The décor was tastefully done, capturing the essence of Scottsdale beautifully, and creating an environment that was both inviting and relaxing.
The real showstopper, however, was our waitress. Her name escapes me now, but her incredible attention to detail didn't. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed while allowing us to enjoy our meal in peace. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, guiding us through our choices with ease and providing recommendations that hit the mark perfectly. Her service was a masterclass in hospitality, setting a high bar for future dining experiences.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! We opted for a variety of dishes, each one surpassing the last in terms of flavor and presentation. The ingredients tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and every dish was cooked to perfection. It was evident that the chef takes great pride in their craft, delivering dishes that are as pleasing to the palate as they are to the eye.
Our lunch started with a tantalizing appetizer platter, featuring a divine selection of bites that whet our appetite beautifully. The main course was a symphony of flavors, a delightfully harmonious blend of taste and texture that left us craving more. The dessert was the proverbial cherry on top, a sweet ending to a meal that was nothing short of spectacular.
In addition to the food and service, the overall atmosphere at Moxies was incredibly enjoyable. The background music was subtle yet uplifting, adding to the overall mood without overpowering our conversation. The other patrons seemed to be enjoying their time as much as we were, contributing to a vibe that was convivial and lively.
In conclusion, our lunch at Moxies Scottsdale Restaurant was a wonderful experience. From the attentive service to the delicious food, every aspect of our visit was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience. We left Moxies with full bellies, happy hearts, and an eagerness to return.
If you're in Scottsdale and looking for a place to enjoy a scrumptious meal in a warm and welcoming environment, Moxies Scottsdale Restaurant should be at the top of your list. Trust me,...
Read moreI’m a millennial and I have 10 years of food service experience (from local mom & pop shops, to chain restaurants and fine dining). I was excited to come into Moxie’s to celebrate NYE, and I’ll admit I had a wonderful time. But these poor kids working (I’ve been there). Not only was it FREEZING, but the servers were wearing tight cocktails dresses and HEELS. I’ve worked in heels before, but never in restaurant that large— I can only imagine their pain, not to mention how cold they must’ve been (no matter how much you run around, that was too cold). Our server was sweet, but didn’t seem to know why she was asking the questions she was asking when it came to alcohol (felt too rehearsed, but then again she looked 17). Then the icing on the cake that made my jaw drop. Poor gal (another server) dropped an entire tray of flutes with champagne. A fellow employee notices, and gives reassurance but then they Both WALK AWAY. Leaving shattered glass and champagne ALL over the floor. —How I’ve been trained in all my positions (bussing/SA, hostess, server), you stand over or by the spill to make sure no one slips or steps on broken glass— it’s a liability and safety hazard. But this clearly was not a known or respected rule for this team. Assuming those with radios are the managers, I saw one come over (about 3 minutes later, with still no one tending the mess), inspect the scene, then leave himself. I was appalled!!! Finally the server and a coworker sweep up the glass and make light of the incident. Of course, accidents happen. They leave, with champagne still all over the floor. Another server turns the corner, and nearly falls bc she SLIPPED on the champagne. Luckily she was able to grab onto the nearest booth, but judging by her irritated expression, I could tell that this dismissal of safety is normal. Eventually, the spill was moped, and a sign was placed. This^ took too long. I have seen people get fired for how serious of an ordeal this could’ve been.
The food was good, although one dish was piping hot and the other was cold. Still we made due, because the service to fix it was predicted to be disappointing anyway. Even in the bathrooms, every stall was completely out of toilet paper.
Otherwise, the celebratory atmosphere was enjoyable, and I left having a good time. But I believe the Moxie’s in Fashion Square represented a truly unorganized and lazy management. The habits the employees are learning will not take them far if they try to move up. Very...
