Social Tap Scottsdale — Restaurant in Scottsdale

I’m not one to write reviews, but I feel that this experience definitely needs one. My friends and I went in on a Saturday night for one of their birthdays. We had made a reservation a couple of hours before. We showed a little early and had to wait to get seated. No big deal. We asked for an outside table, but got sat inside without any communication as to why. Ok. Not that big a deal. We put in our drink orders and get some waters. Ordered some chips and salsa for the table. The chips we received were the broken chips at the bottom and asked for fresh ones. The salsa was very oregano heavy. Felt like I was eating pasta sauce instead of salsa. Odd. It took about 30 minutes to get our food. I understand that there were 9 of us, but that is excessive. When we finally get our food, it comes out staggered over 5-10 minutes. I ordered the red wine braised short ribs. The short ribs tasted like nothing but wine. No seasoning. No color. Looked like it was microwaved. The carrots were hard as if not cooked at all. The only redeeming thing on the plate was the mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the cali burrito bowl which consisted of 75% lettuce. Barely any meat, no rice that was to be included, or guacamole. Got a replacement and then they missed the black beans. Again, bo seasoning or flavor. The tacos were missing the sauce. The burritos were full of cabbage and not much else. The burger was dry as the desert we live in and the Mac and Cheese was bland as everything else. I ordered an old fashion cocktail, which was decent, but the second was inconsistent to the first one. Our waitress was nice and accommodating, but the quality of food for the the prices do not match at all. If I could rate Social Tap higher than a 5 star I would!! I travel a lot and am fortunate to have had some good food over the last 20 years. This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review.

There were 4 in our party and we each ordered an app and an entree and shared it all.

Trifecta Wings - Perfectly crispy and yet the chicken was still moist. All sauces are made in house and you can taste each ingredient. The sweet and spicy Asian was the best I've had. Has a little more kick than others but not overwhelmingly spicy.

Cali-Mari - all of us agreed this was the best calamari we've ever had. The unique combination of the chorizo and the made to order.sauce really made it special.

Ahi-Poke - super fresh tuna and the unique balsamic reduction and sriracha sauce was so tasty!! We all love tuna poke and this was another personal best for all of us.

Chicken Burger - yep this is made with ground chicken instead of the same old boring chicken breast most others use. So that along with the chimichurri and jalapeno aioli puts this chicken burger on a higher level than any other chicken sandwich.

All of the other food was extremely good as well but those are the biggest highlights for us.

Very nice selection of beers on tap! I had a couple of IPA's and others had some hefe's and blonds. All were excellent!

We didn't have any but watched the bartenders make some of the craft cocktails. All looked delicious and were made with great care.

This is my new goto spot whenever I am in Phoenix or Scottsdale!! I want to try everything on the menu!!

I used to absolutely love going to this place, but it has changed so much in the few months that I haven't been. I used to go weekly on Wednesdays for trivia nights and everyone was always so great! This last time, not so much (I believe the manager is new). First of all, the patio is dog friendly, and my dog was sitting on my lap at one of the couches on the side and the manager rudely came out and yelled at me and my friend. He was not at all friendly about it, otherwise I would have been a little more understanding. We had just sat down a minute prior and already got attitude. So keep that in mind if you are bringing a dog. It touches the furniture and you will get yelled at. What really got me to write this review is what happened the next day. I had accidentally left my card in the book thing with the check the night before. I went to pay for a prescription and realized I didn't have my card, and then realized I had probably left it the night before. I called the restaurant and the manager answered the phone and I asked him if he could check and see if my card was there. He told me they were too busy and to call back in an hour. I told him I really needed to know because the pharmacy was about to close and I don't have any other cards, and he told me it wasn't his problem that I left my card there. He told me if I wanted to come to the restaurant they would look for it, but refused to let me know over the phone. Absolutely ridiculous.
