I’ve been to Guadalajara on two separate occasions. The first was about five years ago which was a disappointing experience. I recently went back after my nephew raved about their burritos, but unfortunately my feelings haven’t changed. The first thing you should know is that they are a cash only shop. I can understand and respect this, especially as I know how significant credit card fees can be for a small shop, but it’s still less than ideal for the customer. Secondly they didn’t have Carnitas which I consider one of the staples of a Mexican food place. To be fair though, they did serve Chili Verde which you do not find everywhere else. There are no fountain drinks, which is fine. All the drinks are self served from a refrigerated case.
What bothered me most though was my food. I ordered the chicken nachos and was served A plate with chips, chicken, beans and cheese. While I can’t say it was bad, it was extremely plain and bland. I can’t help but contrast this with Taqueria Palayos (formerly Casa Del Sol), which for the same price, you get it heaped with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. My wife had the Chili Verde burrito which she said it was good, but was disappointed with the amount of actual meat in the burrito.
I’m sure there are other things on the menu that warrants the five stars I see on other reviews, but I have yet to experience these things. Unfortunately, based on my experiences, I won’t...
Read moreThe food was fine but the staff was incredibly rude. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon with a group of six, the restaurant was empty and placed our order to go — when the meals arrived one of the burritos was served on a plate (instead of wrapped) and hard to eat without a table. We thought it would be ok to sit down but this staff ushered us to leave because “they asked if we wanted it to-go or dine in, and we said to-go so we can’t eat here”. We are super confused why an empty joint would do that, and use such harsh tone and voice with us given that we were behaving respectfully. They also gave one person in our group the wrong change, and the cashier raised her voice at them when they recounted and asked for the difference. Super weird and hostile experience, won’t...
