I first visited the Seaside Coffee Roasting Company back in 2003 when my sister and I took a weekend trip to Seaside. I was super impressed with the independent coffee roasting business. The shop is large but cozy and the specialty drinks were not only delicious but meticulously thought out for ingredients and names. My favorite is a cold blended concoction called the Big Foot. It is a chocolate caramel blended drink and it is divine.
I was stoked to find out that they are still in business when I took my family for an overnight excursion last weekend. I was a little perplexed when I first entered the shop because I wasn't sure if I was in the right place or if the place had changed. I didn't see the menu board with the list of specialty drinks and so I asked about them. It turns out that they menu board was present and accounted for, it just isn't currently hanging on the wall. I was however able to get my Big Foot drink and that made me a happy camper.
Unfortunately, they haven't really branched out in over 10 years but it still remains a place that I must visit when I get down to Seaside.
If you're spending any time at all in Seaside or even if you're just passing through, I encourage you to make a point to stop at Seaside Coffee Roasting Company and get you a delicious cup of jo. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks...
Read moreWanted to love this coffee shop .... cute coffee stop, but the longer I stayed the more I saw...for a food establishment, this place is dirty, and doesn’t have a lot of options listed on the menu. Asked for a matcha, they were out. Asked for a gluten free bagel, they were out. Asked for a coffee with hazelnut syrup, they were out. Got a regular coffee, was directed to a self serve carafe, which looked to have never been cleaned. Filled my cup, went for the creamer, you guessed it. Empty.
Waited 20 min for the food we ordered, only to see a group of girls come into the shop and go behind the counter and help themselves to smoothies and bagels, all before our food even came out. As I was waiting, looked around and saw filth everywhere. Behind the counter, at the service counter. All the bins holding food were disgusting. Service was poor. Too bad no one here takes pride in this shop, could have been...
Read moreGo where the locals gather! When visiting a "tourist" destination, I always try to find the places where the locals go because that's usually where you'll find the best service, products, food, etc. That's exactly what I found at Seaside Coffee Roasters! I think everyone in the place knew each other, kind of like in the TV show "Cheers," if you're old enough to remember that one!
Anyway, the coffee was great, service was friendly and the atmosphere cozy. They had a pretty good selection of food, lots of bagel sandwiches, but I went with simple oatmeal. Kudos to them for using a quality, Oregon-based product, Bob's Red Mill oatmeal, that was then topped with FRESH fruit and berries (not the typical dried fruit packets). Although, you can choose to have it plain or customized to your liking with a handful of available toppings (like chocolate chips for the kiddos - or us kids...
