My recent visit to Caffe Ladro left much to be desired, particularly in terms of the service I received. Unfortunately, I encountered a situation where the staff seemed disinterested and treated me differently based on my race.
When it was time to place my order, the staff members appeared to be busy and ignored my presence. However, as soon as a white customer entered the café, their demeanor changed entirely, and they were all smiles. I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast in their behavior towards me compared to the white customer. It was disheartening to feel marginalized and overlooked.
After waiting patiently, I finally spoke up and mentioned that I had been waiting before the other customer arrived. A staff member, who I believe was either Latino or white, abruptly and aggressively responded, stating that I was on my phone and insinuating that I was being inconsiderate. In reality, I was simply pretending to be on my phone because the situation felt uncomfortable and dismissive.
The hostile response I received was uncalled for and only served to further diminish my experience at Caffe Ladro. As a customer, I expected to be treated with respect and fairness, regardless of my background.
It is disappointing to encounter such behavior in a place that should foster a welcoming and inclusive environment. As a result of this experience, I cannot recommend Caffe Ladro to others who seek a positive and inclusive café experience.
It is my hope that Caffe Ladro addresses these concerns and takes steps to ensure that all customers are treated equally and...
Read moreWent there in an early July morning to buy coffee grounds on recommendations from a friend, and the awesome products did not disappoint. Reason for the 3-star is due to our experience at the counter. With no other patrons in the shop, my simple purchase of 3 bags of coffee took more than 10 minutes, and here's how. As we stood at the register waiting to pay, two staff members were busy going through some basic training routines and completely ignored us. My wife and I were very baffled by the (mis)treatment and decided to patiently see how it played out. We got a quick "sorry, we'll be right with you" about 5 minutes in, and then waited for another 5 minutes before the staff decided to process our payment, which took about 30 seconds. During this whole time we joked loudly, made faces, hummed tunes, and were chuckling in disbelief of this odd encounter. Good thing that we weren't in a hurry, and we ended up laughing about it often. But c'mon, no retail establishment can treat...
Read moreWent in cause the Google Map said a 12oz seasonal Pumpkin Latte was 5.55 and the Southwest breakfast burrito was 5.00. Prices are actually higher, online menu apparently out of date. Paid 16.00+ for them. The coffee tasted run of the mill with pumpkin syrup and nutmeg, nothing special. I've gotten better for less at other coffee shops. The burrito was small(snack sized), did not match the photos (End cut off, not grilled, tasted like it had been reheated), and tasted like salsa, beans, and eggs. Again nothing special and not worth the $6 they charge for it. I get more out of a Seattle Dog from the Nola Dog vendor down the street for the same price. They don't take/call out names so people were confused as to whose latte belonged to who, almost took someones 16oz thinking it was mine cause it came out at the same time as my burrito. Someone almost grabbed my latte thinking it was their's. Burrito took 5 minutes my latte took 10 minutes. Not going back. Think I'll stick to the Monorail...
