I was excited about this new "market and cafe" in downtown Seattle. I was especially excited about the "cafe part". I stopped in today, Day Two of their recent opening and was underwhelmed. The place is really just an upscale bodega. They were not serving drip coffee although I was told they would do so, eventually. A sign says all bakery goods are prepared fresh that same morning. I helped myself to a bagel, off a shelf and unwrapped, that was in no way fresh. I asked an employee to toast it so that I could eat it; the bagel was rock hard and couldn't be eaten had it not been toasted. There are four "cafe" tables placed along a bench; each table is big enough to hold a cup of coffee but not big enough to hold both coffee and a bagel. The tables are teeny-tiny and the bench is uncomfortable. There is nothing to suggest that the owners want customers to stay. Most fresh food offerings are found in the "Grab and Go" coolers along a wall. The rest of the offerings are chips and snacks. With not-so-fresh bakery items, grab and go other items, and very limited, uncomfortable seating with tables so small you have to choose between resting your food or resting your coffee.. this is not the cafe and coffee culture spot I was hoping for. I may try the place one more time (I live on the same block) but the space is not as as welcoming as I hoped. If you want to get some coffee and buy some pre-packaged food so you can dash off... you might be satisfied. If you want a cafe, you'll have to...
Read moreTried their matcha latte and it was very yummy and filling! I wasnât expecting to be filled by their matcha, but I had a 16oz and in the heat was super refreshing which satisfied my lack of appetite during hot summer days. I think the price was fair for it - no complaints. I used their online ordering system posted on their website which was great because it was super fast and ready to pick up by the suggested time. While itâs no packed, there is a period of time where there was a long line, but definitely not a long wait. The staff was super friendly and I honestly believe the male cashier was genuinely happy and sincere on his kindness. Would definitely come back to try their other drinks! Note there are snacks and sweets in the back (including ice cream) and it seems they partner with a local business where they get some sandwiches for the day (once theyâre gone theyâre gone though) which while you can order ahead you can find whatâs available in their...
Read moreDuring a lunch walk, I stumbled upon this small and cute coffee shop doubles as a mini market and has quickly become a highlight of my walks. They serve a great selection of items from local favorites like Macrina Bakery, Blazing Bagels, The French Bakery, Cupcake Royale, Crave Cookies, and Harried & Hungryâperfect for grabbing a quick bite or a sweet treat. Youâll also find snacks like cup noodles and granola bars at super affordable prices. They serve coffee, smoothies, and tea. Their Americano is just $3, which is rare these days! The space is always clean, the vibes are cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly. A great spot to grab a coffee and support local vendors.
My only critique was my ZS Hazelnut Americano was a bit sweeter than Iâm used to, but thatâs an adjustment I can make...
