This review is mainly based on my first visit to Caffe Limoncello, so I can only talk about the Small Latte and the Almond Croissant I got here.
First off, the Latte was pretty nice! It was very aesthetically pleasing. In terms of taste, there was a decent amount of sugar in it, without ever being overbearing, and a good amount of froth on the top. Overall, it was really smooth to drink, and I do like it over the latte from popular coffee chains (ex., Starbucks).
For the Almond Croissant that I got, I would say is that it is decently-sized. It's a little bigger than the one I got at La Parisienne, but smaller than the one at Byen Bakeri or Bakery Nouveau. I also noticed that, unlike other Almond Croissants I've had, it doesn't have bits of almonds sprinkled on the top of the croissant, and it didn't have much almond paste inside. This does mean that it's not as good as the other Almond Croissants I've had in town, unfortunately. Nonetheless, it was still enjoyable to eat.
For the Latte and Croissant that I got, I paid a little over $8, which on the okay side for Seattle. The Latte is cheaper than what you'd get at places like Starbucks, so that's good. However, the Almond Croissant was not as good as those in other nearby bakeries, so there's a bit of a ding here to the value for price. Perhaps I'll change my mind on the value for price, once I try out more of their menu next time, but you'll still get a decent value for what you pay.
Service-wise, I really liked the staff at Caffe Limoncello. Caffe Limoncello was one of the few places that didn't seem super scared of me trying to use Samsung Pay, even when their systems didn't take NFC payments (since Samsung Pay doesn't need NFC to work). The staff was also very warm and welcoming, when it came to answering my questions, and telling me where to leave my dishes after I was done eating.
Overall, Caffe Limoncello has made a pretty good first impression on me! I am interested in coming back to explore more of the menu, and I do hope that Caffe Limoncello continues to grow...
Read moreLimoncello is an outstanding experience. The food, service, and atmosphere are superb. Rarely do I take the time to write a review, but our fantastic evening at Limoncello compelled me to share my praise. I’ll attempt to convey my delight while keeping this review as concise as possible; all dishes were 10/10… flavor, presentation, and overall enjoyment were superb. Here’s a recap of our experience:
Upon checking in for our reservation, we were seated at the Chef’s Table (or at least, that’s what I’m calling it based on seeing chef’s tables at other restaurants). My wife and I started the evening with the bruschetta appetizer, and it was delivered to our table quickly, with all ingredients prepared to perfection. The bread was toasted to buttery perfection, and the eggplant was like nothing I’ve ever had before. Based on the superior quality of our appetizer, we knew our night was off to a good start. We then moved on to our main courses: the lasagna and one of the night’s specials, Italian sausage pappardelle. The only thing that upstaged the deliciousness of each dish were the portion sizes, as both dishes were generously large. There was no way either of us were leaving anything on our plates, and after finishing our entrees, we managed to save enough room to split a tiramisu for dessert. Having visited Italy on several occasions, I can easily attest that Limoncello’s tiramisu stands out as being one of the best I’ve ever had.
The chef is from Italy, and you’ll experience his commitment to his craft in every aspect of your visit. Additionally, the cocktails (we had the Limoncello cocktail and Belltown) were balanced, refreshing, and the perfect addition to this early-spring culinary experience. And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention their expansive selection of limoncellos (the one we had was delicious and consumed as our dessert’s dessert).
What an amazing experience… 10/10 stars. Can't WAIT to...
Read moreI really don't often go out of my way to leave a negative review. I figure that everyone has bad days, things get busy, mess ups happen... This was not one of those situations. My girlfriend and I stopped by on a Sunday during happy hour for a couple drinks and a snack. The drinks and snacks were good, but the service was awful. The man serving refused to let us sit at a table, saying it was reserved, then acted like none of the other four tables were open either... and the only one available was 'right here', dirty as all get out. The people who were given the 'reserved' table a little later on gave no indication of having called ahead. The place was also completely dead except for one other table. We were given water glasses with napkins and silverware dropped in them, but had to ask for water. Other tables were properly set. We received our caprese appetizer which was fine, but absolutely covered in dry Italian seasoning for some reason... he did not give us side plates. The other tables received side plates and very attentive service. To add to that, when I received the bill, there was a $3 "patio fee". When I asked about it, the server said it's for the heater... that neither one of us asked for. He took the charge off, but it was absolutely mind boggling, especially given the fact that indoor seating wasn't even an option. I'm not sure what the deal was. I don't want to claim some kind of prejudice, but with the very obvious different treatment toward my girlfriend and I, it's hard to think anything else. Did he think we weren't there to spend money? Who knows. It's unfortunate because I wanted to try out more...
