My husband and I came here last night for a Friday night Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant was busy, but we were able to get a seat at the bar right away. Normally we prefer a table when dining out, but soon realized how appreciative we were to have gotten the bar here.
We were served delicious edamame to start, which really helped set the mood while we chose drinks and food. The appetizer menu was extensive. In fact, most of the menu - outside of sushi rolls, ramens, and a few entrees - consisted of appetizers, both cooked and fresh (ie. fish and others). We really liked this setup because it allowed us to mix things up and try a variety of foods.
The service was excellent! Our bartender Cassidy was friendly and attentive, as were our servers Brendon and Jenny (I may be wrong on the spellings 😅). In addition to the great food, they all made this experience top notch.
From our spot at the bar, we got a front row view of Cassidy working nonstop making drinks, and she kindly answered questions we had about the drinks (which encouraged us to order some for ourselves 🍹). The PNW Blackberry Lemonade was our favorite, although we also enjoyed several others and they were all worth trying.
The atmosphere and setting was just right too. The floor was busy and alive, lights and colors felt vibrant and exciting, music was great, and the TV above the bar had TNT playing some adult animated comedy and then a basketball game.
Fortuitously, we first sat down at a nearby restaurant expecting an all-you-can-eat menu that turned out to be unavailable due to the place apparently being too booked up to offer that. While we may have stuck with that place anyway, the server merely sat us down and pointed to a QR code both to access the menu AND place the order via our phone. We look at our phones enough throughout the day, so I always prefer a physical menu when possible, and in any case we didn't see our server again for 5+ minutes, so we decided we'd try our next choice - Wasabi. In hindsight, we're sooo glad that we did, because this Valentine's Day dinner is one we won't...
Read moreI’ve been going to this restaurant for a long time. Yesterday was my final time going. Our server Brenden put in the wrong order. I ordered sashimi after 20 mins the server assistant comes with nigiri. I politely said oh sorry I didn’t order that and she took it back. Than BRENDEN the server comes to our table and says “so one of y’all definitely ordered the nigiri who was it.” We look at him thinking maybe he’s trying to crack a joke and I said “I ordered the sashimi.” He than proceedes to say “no, one of y’all ordered it but it’s cool I can take the blame for it.” I looked at him and said “well I’m not taking the blame for it because I didn’t order it.”
He puts in the sashimi order and comes back 20 minutes later, asking me if I still wanted the sashimi and if I was sure. I said yes… after 15 mins I get my sashimi.
When we got our bill he had billed someone in our group for the nigiri and we caught it and told him to take it off the bill. At that point we didn’t even want to tip him only to find out he put a 20% gratuity already. Yes we did have 5 people with us but that is something that should be vocalized.
I also saw him cheers and take a shot with the couple that was sitting at the bar. I’m not sure if the man just had a bad day or he was drunk considering he was drinking on the job.
Overall the service was horrible. The sad part is that I honestly use to like this restaurant and would recommend it to everyone, but after having a server talk to me like he was going to fight me over some sushi that’s when they lost me as a customer. I wouldn’t even have written a review if he just got the order wrong and moved on from there. But if you give me attitude for a mistake you honestly made and not just put the order in after than charge me for it AND DRINK ON THE JOB. That is...
Read moreI don't like posting negative reviews but sadly my experience here was completely horrible. Visited during a busy Saturday night. (Many events going on such as Mariners game and event at Wamu theatre) so I knew for a fact that the service may not be the best because it was not super busy when we arrived but about 15minutes into our visit the baseball game had just ended. So we knew a rush was coming !
It took awhile for us to get water, in which our server just placed a large bottle of water for us to serve ourselves but didn't offer to take our order for drinks or even say anything at all.. just slid the bottle onto the table and left.
Our server finally came to ask us if we wanted any drinks.. We only came for food, so we nicely placed our full order.
The food took awhile to come but we figured that may be the case as tables around us who had ordered before us were receiving their orders of sushi. We ordered ramen and udon X2 each and honestly I was really disappointed...
My udon was super bland even though I had ordered it spicy. I took only 2 bites and left the plate as it was not enjoyable to eat.
Our server never come check up on us, which was very disappointing. When we asked for the bill, he gave it to us and when saying the amount .. he said something that really took us off guard.
The entire experience was very unpleasant from beginning to end. Would...
