Meh.
Saw this place on Delectable Destinations with Andrew Zimmerman. He featured their 'world famous' salmon sandwich.
Honestly, it was underwhelming. Lots of bread. And not enough seasoning on the fish nor enough sauce. Strong fish flavor with neutral tasting bread. Couldn't taste the onions or spread. It all just got lost in the thick bread. $15 for only a 6 inch sub type sandwich. Nah. Not great.
Texture was fine.
Had the chowder, too. Not bad, but not great. My bowl did not have a lot of clams. Mostly potatoes and carrots. It's not super creamy. Not like New England chowder. It's a bit different. I think they purée some of the potatoes to give it that thickness, not too much cream. I guess I've just had better. Flavor was good, just not amazing. $6.50 for 12 oz.
Service wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. They basically take your order and that's it. I asked for water when ordering. They forgot to serve the water. So I asked 3 different guys for the water. There is only 4 of them. First one was the guy I ordered with, second was the guy working the grill and delivered our sandwich, he said I gotta ask the other guy, but never nudged him to get his attention. It's a tiny area. The last guy finally delivered it after I was able to get his attention, but by that time I was done with the soup and most of the sandwich.
They were a little busy, so just expect that. And If you decide to eat at their counter, they will still give much of their attention to the walk up orders. Just don't be in a rush and try to get your water/drink before they walk off.
I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again, but it wasn't...

I ordered the small 6 oz Clam Chowder and the Blackened Salmon Sandwich totaling $32 (with tax) plus a tip on top of that. The chowder was good and I ate all of it but I’ve also had better. It had more of a “pot pie soup” color and taste than the usual creamy white chowder you normally see. The salmon Sammy was good. First time ordering a salmon sandwich. Usually I eat my salmon with rice or veggies. Surprisingly this salmon Sammy was good. Had a nice flavor combination from the onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and rosemary mayo. It went well with the grilled bread. I’d order the sandwich again. However I felt that $23 just for a sandwich (didn’t come with slaw on the side) was expensive considering the salmon wasn’t a huge size. If you want more food for your buck I think you’re better off ordering the salmon platter which comes with slaw, rice, salad and garlic bread for $23. The guy at taking orders was extremely nice and efficient. He kept the line moving. The lady cook on the grill didn’t mess around. Straight face all business but you can tell she’s a bad ass. She was serving up them orders like hot cakes. And there was a food prep guy in the back chopping and prepping to keep the ingredients coming. It’s a very small establishment with minimal seating. I ended up taking my order to go and ate it in my hotel room because I was pressed on time to catch a flight. Overall, great service, good atmosphere, and good food. I’ll...
