It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to try this place as we selected it out of so many other options. We arrived during happy hour so it was understandably busy inside (but no lineup).
When we approached the host (tall guy with a mullet) he was sitting at the bar cross legged half turned to us while texting on his phone. We said we would like to come for happy hour so he said sure find a place around the corner. There was nowhere to sit so it want an option (you can only order happy hour food if you sit in the bar area). We went back to the front to let him know there wasn’t anywhere to sit so we asked if we could sit upstairs. He said he thinks he can probably find us a table but that the rule is happy hour you must sit in the bar. Kind of a stupid and limiting rule but whatever, we said that’s fine. Anyway, he was not friendly whatsoever and it was clear that he was annoyed to have to be working as we were disturbing his text time. He led us up the stairs to the first table directly at the top of the stairs, dropped the menus and peaced out. No “is this table ok?” Or “your server will be right with you”.
Guy literally gave zero F’s, so we left and went to Seatown down the street a block which was delicious and the employees couldn’t have been nicer.
Writing this review because the owner should be aware that this guy is clearly burdened by his job and would rather be home...
Read moreAn overdue review, but I feel as if this needed to be said.
Unprofessional and rude waitress, and a mediocre restaurant. We were offered to sit at the bar, even though we were under 21. I ordered a seafood saute, and the clams had sand in them and the salmon had some scales. The waitress told me I didn't have to raise my hand to ask for her, and when she asked me how the food was I said it was 'good' instead of saying otherwise.
I ended up deciding to leave the restaurant without a tip, and hopefully give the place a second chance sometime in the future once the establishment improved. The waitress followed me outside the restaurant and lectured me on how it was 'rude' to not leave a tip and that servers like her needed tips to survive (the minimum tipped wage in Seattle is currently $16.50 which is the same for every minimum wage worker in the city). Upon leaving, I thought to myself that maybe the waitress was in need of money, so I returned to the restaurant to ask if she wanted some tip money. She lectured me further and refused the money, while constantly asking me if I 'would like a table' (I just ate) in an attempt to confuse me and turn the situation into her favor before leaving without my input.
Extremely rude and disappointing. Would not eat here again, especially after the waitress'...
Read moreWell I will be honest {Athenian} was not our first choice for a late breakfast. We wanted to try a mean Crab Benne & Since we were slightly delayed from our regular schedule & most places in Pike turned us down for Breakfast & offered their lunch menu without bennes, we jumped in when Athenian had them in their all day breakfast menu.
After a quick wait, we were seated in slightly tight wooden cabins, with beautiful views. And what a view it was, the place was crowded albeit if not for the food at least for the views. Apologies for the scepticism, haven’t heard much about Athenian before we accidentally ended up here.
Boy, what a sweet accident this was, the food was fabulous, in fact I would state better than the views.
We ordered what we craved for, two Shrimp & Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, coffee & a Chicken Burger.
The service was sweet, quick, the food looked appealing when it arrive & even better when we tasted. The shrimp & crab cakes were super soft, moist & most importantly fresh & went beautifully with poached eggs. We all cleared off the plates quickly & promised to cone here for more, as their lunch specials looked equally delicious.
And hey, I came to know that Tom Hanks filmed a scene here in the movie Sleepless in Seattle, & you could choose to sit in the sane seat as him, &...
