TLDR; this place has an employee who puts his hands on and pushes patrons when the situation does not call for physical contact, and staff has stated that their policy is to specifically target people of color and only pat them down before they enter the bar. Zero stars. Do not recommend.
Went here with my boyfriend and 2 friends who were in town for the night. Both of the guys in our group were patted down at the door, us females were not. Pretty typical at some bars, no biggie. After entering the bar, I watched door security let 4 white males, not all in the same group, enter without patting them down. I walked back out and asked the door security why my group was patted down (all of us being people of color) but the white guys were not. I was told only males were patted down to avoid a lawsuit. Still doesn’t explain why 4 males were just let in that we’re not patted down if that’s the procedure. A second employee (the one pictured) came out at that point and said they can pat down whoever they want and pushed me aside by my arm. There was absolutely no reason for the employee to touch me, let alone push me.
Later that night as my group was leaving because it was closing time, the same employee in the photo, grabbed my boyfriend and pushed him stating everyone needed to leave because the bar was closing. We were already walking to the front door just like everyone else in the bar who was filing out. This employee is on a power trip and puts his hands on patrons when it’s unwarranted and uncalled for which is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
After exiting and standing on the sidewalk waiting for our Uber, I asked another employee why they were only patting down people of color all night. The employee told me that’s their procedure because historically it’s been people of color who bring weapons into places. I asked him if he was saying they blatantly target black and brown people coming into the bar and he said yes. I asked why it was ok to let patrons in and have them get high out out of their minds on cocaine in the bathroom (our table was next to the men’s room and the door was open a majority of the time and I watched this happen the entire time we were there) knowing that drugs and alcohol isn’t the best combination and can lead to bad choices, but these patrons were not patted down for weapons and he said it’s their choice on who they choose to identify as a problem coming in the door. I have this entire conversation in audio recording.
Zero stars. Would...
Read moreI came with a reservation to watch my friend play live with his band. I am not sure if they double booked us or what, but another customer kept coming over to our table and insisting our table was reserved by his cousin. He was making up stuff about how his cousin was from Nashville and here to scout the band. My friends and I told him we also had reservations and the staff had seated us there but he kept coming back and insisting it was his cousin's table. I told him to take it up with the restaurant staff and I guess he did because we were asked to move to a different table by the manager/owner (?) of the restaurant. She was very apologetic and at that point my friends and I were just tired of dealing with the other customer's entitled rudeness so we agreed.
Their solution was to squeeze 3 bar stools at the end of a larger table full of people we did not know. They also took over 30 minutes to bring us our drinks and food (we ordered 2 beers, 1 cocktail, and 1 appetizer). The lady who moved us apologized profusely and promised us a free round on the house to make up for the confusion but the free round never came. We were so uncomfortable the entire time, I could barely focus on the band. We left within 10 minutes of being moved to our new table. And our original table, which seated 4 people, was taken over by 1 person- the purported cousin from Nashville, I guess. One. Person. Safe to say, I will not be back.
Don't bother with reservations if you are trying to go here.
EDIT: I just wanted to make this additional note after seeing the general management's reply to my original review. While I appreciate a response at all, the overall lack of accountability is appalling. Ozzie's GM is making every negative review sound like the customer is just being an entitled negative nancy but the facts are I was a customer and my reservation was messed up, I was harassed by another customer continuously, and my friends and I were made to feel incredibly uncomfortable the entire time. There was very little to no proper communication between me and any staff regarding the seating situation nor expected wait times for the food or our promised free round. I was just here to support my friend's band and I was made to feel like I was intruding on someone else's party because of Ozzie's lack of proper management and organization. And reading the other reviews, it sounds like many other people had the...
Read moreI went recently for karaoke. I don't drink alcohol so I always try to order something from the menu in order to patronage the establishment. It took quite a while to get the server's attention for a menu and then another bit before she came to take my order. After some time, she came and asked my name, left, and then came back and informed me that she gave my debit card to someone else. All they had of the person was their name and had to check that person down on social media and try to message them. They were unsuccessful. I had to lock my card immediately but this also means that I have no access to my bank account for the time being. The manager came and said it was an accident when in reality it is carelessness because they should be double checking names and keeping things organized and clearly that did not happen. After I was informed that my card was given to someone else, nobody bothered to check on me to make sure that I didn't need anything else to drink or eat which should have been done and given to me on the house if I needed anything. But instead, I had to be the one to ask for updates and I had to be the one to ask the manager if he intended to take my phone number so they can contact me should they reach the person they gave my card to. I have been somewhat of a regular at this establishment. Service is generally always lacking. I would have appreciated at the bare minimum for a server or a manager to check on me consistently and offer me food and beverage should I need it on the house. That would have been the least that they could do for the financial stress that was caused to me. Since this happened on a friday, there's no even calling the bank until monday. This means I am without access to my account over the weekend. Considering bar staff does not need to hold cards after they swipe it into their system, they should be returning cards to the patrons to avoid such a catastrophic event. I don't know that I will be returning to this establishment and giving them my business in the future. I would highly suggest anyone who decides to come to this establishment to bring cash and cash only. After all, there is not a good way to rectify...
