I've been a handful of times, but my recent visit was disappointing.
They were fairly busy, as it was a convention center weekend so I am understanding of higher wait times (30-45 minutes). I ordered right after my friend, who also got a hot sand-which. Both of our estimates were 30 minutes with an increase of people coming so I assumed it would take an extra 15-20 which is totally reasonable with how busy they were today.
My friend's order number was 35, mine was 36. We ordered at 1:03pm. His food came out at around 1:30pm as estimated by the staff. I continue to wait for another 15 minutes, my friends done eating, so I go and check if they have the order in the queue. They tell me it's the 3rd one out. Okay... maybe some online orders jumped me in queue between my order and my friends? Strange but it happens.
I end up waiting another 15 minutes, watching probably close to 10-12 plates leave the kitchen before mine is complete. I'm not sure why exactly my food was continuously reprioritized, but it was. Ended up waiting over an hour to eat, and 30 minutes after my friend who ordered at the same time as me. I over heard someone on staff talking to another customer, and they said that they try to move orders around to accommodate orders that are coming in online vs orders that are placed in the restaurant. I'm not sure if that's true, but I did order in person at the restaurant and my order was certainly shuffled around.
I understand being busy. I understand unforeseen orders or mishaps. I just don't understand how two orders placed within seconds of each other ended up 30 minutes apart. They did provide me with a free side of fries... but that was not necessary.
I know you can't get things right 100% of the time, and I appreciate that Honey Hole recognized the delay with some fries (which weren't very warm), but something weird happened with how they prioritized new orders and it really messed with my experience.
Honey Hole has good food so if it's not busy I'd recommend it. But if it is busy I'd just recommend getting Taku across the street for faster service and amazing...
Read moreDuring my 1 week trip to Seattle, this was one of the few places I really wanted to check out cause of all the positive reviews I’ve seen here and on Reddit. However, I had a terrible experience, which left me frustrated.
First of all, they were out of the sandwich I heard a lot of good things about, which is fine and I could order something else. 20 minutes after my order, they told me that they were out of the meat that’s a part of my sandwich and I was able to change it to another protein they offer. After all my friends were almost done with their sandwich, I finally got my sandwich, which to my surprise had cold meat and was missing coleslaw and BBQ sauce (2 of the 4 ingredients). The two bites I took were super dry and I told them about it.
The guy who himself made my sandwich first argued that it should be there and I literally had to open my sandwich to convince them. And after that, they took it, put some coleslaw on top and drizzled BBQ sauce only on one of the two pieces. And at that point, I accepted that this is the best I was gonna get so I joined my friends and ate my sandwich. I wouldn’t care about these problems if they had just been more responsive and understanding, but throughout the whole experience, they made me feel like a douche for asking what was supposed to be in the sandwich I ordered. The worst part is I tried my friends’ sandwiches and they were really tasty (hence an extra star). Maybe the workers had a bad day and we came later at night, but it still doesn’t excuse the treatment and the $15 sandwich that only had meat and cheese slapped on a...
Read moreHad a bad experience here. Came here with friend because needed something fast and had an hour before we had to leave for the airport. My friends and I order sandwiches and chili cheese fries as an app. Right away, we see our waitress zipping around from table to table, so apparent they're short staffed. Well, that's ok, we got greeted and got our orders in fast enough.
After 30 minutes, our app still hasn't arrived yet. We flag our waitress down to check up on our food. She checks and says it's being plated. We ask to get it to go. She says it would take longer to put it in boxes than to finish plating them. OK, that's fine, we can wolf our food and be on our way. After 15 minutes, food still hasn't arrived. Flag our waitress down, ask what the hell is going on. Exasperatedly, she gives excuses "You see how short staffed we are, and we got a new kitchen staff and that's making things take longer." 10 min later, our sandwiches arrive. Lukewarm, like they've been sitting there.
I'm not sure why it took 55 minutes for 4 sandwiches and fries to be made, or why it took 25 minutes for our food to be plated, or why our food wasn't super fresh. Feels like someone was lying somewhere or that someone was messing up pretty badly. But service was really, really bad.
Food was decent, but can't get over how unhappy the...
