got the Piñata Benedict quite a unique meal
this was really two separate parts
the first was an interesting combination it was a bed of english muffins, which had smoked pork and bacon on top, and which then had poached eggs on top, and everything was topped with chipotle hollandaise
as for the first part, the main part of the meal was the smoked pork / bacon, so I'll start there I'm not the biggest fan of smoked/pulled pork in general, so I didn't enjoy this as I might have another meat, but what I did really appreciate was how well everything was cooked There was a certain density to the pork that I really liked - where pulling the pork apart with a fork and knife took some effort - it didn't easily pull apart I also really liked the crispy exterior
The second part was the poached eggs. Similar to the pork, I typically don't like poached eggs that much - and I thought they were fine here I did enjoy the way these combined with the pork, however
The hollandaise sauce was good but a) there was no hint of chipotle at all and b) I didn't feel like it was as creamy as it could be. It added a nice sweeter taste but I thought it could've been better - maybe the weakest part of the meal
The most underrated part of the main section was the english muffins. These were beautiful on the outside, and each bite was dense and chewy. Normally, that's not a good thing, but it worked so well here. Having the rest of the main meal sit on this was a great idea - as it provided a great gravity to everything. Eating these was my most enjoyable part of the main section
I can't go this long without talking about the second part of this overall dish - which were the hash browns This is what really takes this this from average to quite good
There's a beautiful, crispy, golden brown covering on the outside that tastes so good - and the inside is unbelievably soft - I haven't had hash browns this soft before. This contrast between the outside and inside is quite fantastic. The other great thing is the serving size - nearly the entire plate is filled with this delicious side. This was the real star of the show
For the price (about 20 dollars) I thought this was quite filling as well
Overall, hash browns definitely were the best part, but I thought the main dish was still pretty...

I'd like to start by saying the wait staff was wonderful, and the food came to us very quickly.
About the food: it looked beautiful, but it tasted awful.
I ordered the pinata benedict suggested by Guy Ferrari. The pork was salty, I couldn't taste the three teaspoons of hollandaise which accompanied the overcooked pork. It seemed they left my food under a heat lamp for at least 7 minutes. The poached eggs were indistinguishable from hard-boiled when it came to the yolk. Any pork that was not under the eggs was dry like jerky.
And that was just my meal.
My oldest ordered the pancakes. They were cold. No question. The bottom pancake had a little bit of heat and we used that to warm the top pancake so we could spread butter. When I finally cut into them, they were like rubber. If you've ever eaten at IHOP or a cheap diner, you know what I mean.
My youngest got the steel cut oatmeal and that seems to be the one dish that steals the show. My two-year-old enjoyed eating the oats and option of brown sugar, butter, and raisins.
My husband got a mushroom blue cheese burger + bacon. He was not impressed. The burger was lacking in flavor and making up for it with spice. The french fries were so cold my two and five year olds refused to eat them. French fries are their favorite food,...
Read moreVoula's is a classic. A Saturday and/or Sunday morning must.
It's a weekly tradition for me, and I don't see that changing. Several reasons:
Excellent service (I mean, above and beyond) Good coffee (Good ol' diner drip) Big portions (Important because it's not all that cheap esp. after Fieri reviewed) Classic American diner breakfast food (all your classics) Things taste great
I don't even like sausage but Voula makes a mean greek one. My personal favorite though: The Big One - Three eggs, 2 bacon, 2 greeks, toast and hashbrowns (a lot of those). Sometimes I take home leftovers. Other times I leave around 10am filled up 'til dinner. $13.00. I feel like it's fair for what you get. I chat with the cooks in Spanish and just chill, drinking coffee for a while afterwards. Once in a while Voula will come over and bend your ear too.
The diner scene is not really a thing out in the Seattle area. You've got Maltby cafe way out in nowhere, a string of cafe's on the Eastside that are overpriced, some decent options out in the Kent area. That makes Voula's a big deal because it's everything you want in a diner and its in Seattle proper. Great people, great atmosphere, great food. I would commute to this place on a weekend morning. Without a...
