We’re locals, we had worked a 12 hour day doing renovations and redecorating on one of our cabins. We were exhausted and wanted burgers. We wanted someone to bring us drinks and bring our food to us and we wanted to relax. Graze is closer to our cabin, and it’s our old standby, but we had had good burgers at Iron Forge a couple months ago, so we detoured.
We were told to sit anywhere, the place was practically deserted, less than 10 cars in the parking lot and it hadn’t fully gotten dark yet. It was awhile before a waitress walked up, and said as she was handing us the menus “do you know what you want?” We literally hadn’t held the menus for 5 seconds, we’re not psychic. She didn’t take our drink order, just walked away. She eventually came back, took orders, and my husband ordered sweet tea. She said, “I think they already dumped the tea out.” It wasn’t even 7pm yet! They can’t make more? Guess not.
When our food arrived, we still had no napkins or silverware. She asked if we needed anything. We both asked for mayo. She disappeared and we waited and waited and waited. Was she making the mayo from scratch? Our food was getting cold and there weren’t many people there, it’s not like she was busy. She returned with two little cups of mayo and asked “Do you need anything else?” Perhaps something to SPREAD the mayo onto the burger? The burger that’s been sitting for like 10 minutes getting cold while you plopped some mayo into cups and assumed we’d smear it on with our fingers?
The burgers were MUCH smaller than the bun this go-round. Flavor was on point, but there was easily 1/3 of the bun left over after eating the tiny patties. Onion rings here are always a winner, best in the county.
When it was time to leave, the waitress arrived at the table with a machine in her hand and announced the total. No printed itemized check, just her standing there waiting for a credit card.
We want to love this place so badly. We have this restaurant in our cabin guides to the area, recommendations from us to our guests. This visit makes us wonder if that was a mistake. We need options other than the always busy but not always good Local Goat. But when this is how they treat locals who are willing to go out of their way to patronize the establishment during the off season, it doesn’t matter how good the food is in a vacuum, when there are so many misses. Disappointing. Hope they get it together, this area needs a...
Read moreThe Iron Forge Brewery is off the main drag in Sevierville. It's a very nice building with extremely high ceilings. The brewery is inside. It is in pristine condition. The restaurant area has ample seating space inside and plenty of seating around the bar. Outside, there are games people can play and lots of seating to enjoy the fresh air. In the back is a large room that people can rent for parties. There is ample parking. Tonight, the restaurant/bar was very crowded due to a party for veterans going on in the back room. There was live music beginning at six, which was enjoyable. Management could use some help with scheduling workers. The service was extremely slow at the bar. People waited over twenty minutes to order a drink. Then there was about another 7 - 10 minute wait to get the beverage. The wait staff worked delingently, but extreneky slowly in bringing food to the tables. Due to the crowd of people wanting dinner food, the kitchen closed down for thirty minutes to try to catch up on the orders. No one was allowed to order during that time. The bartender told people that it would probably be an hour before they would get any food, but a half hour before they could order. The smash burger is excellent! The onion rings are delicious. The salad was was not very good. It looked like it had been tbrown together hastily. I oicked the rotten lettuce out of the salad before I began to eat it. The salad was drownded and dressing. It's probably best to order dressing on the side. The bathrooms were pretty clean, but they needed attention. I believe if there were more trained employees working during the busy times people would get served quicker and be happier. They'd probably...
Read moreWhile the setup and location was great and the service was phenomenal, unfortunately the food was a disappointment. We came here mainly for the fried green tomatoes and smash burgers. Where do I start? Well first, the tomatoes were so over fried ( and they definitely looked it) that I could literally not cut them with my knife and fork. It came with aioli and I sprung for the pimento cheese and bacon jam because, well, it’s vacation! The aioli was nothing more than mayo that tasted like it came from a jar. The pimento cheese WAS delicious, but the bacon jam was so crystallized it’s as if there was brown sugar in a cup with bacon in it. I did ask my server to remove the green tomatoes from the bill because I really did give it the good old college try. The wings were delicious, but my Sister ordered the “Y’all that burger”. It also had the bacon jam on it, which I LOVE bacon jam on a burger but this was literally as if they sprinkled a heap of brown sugar on it, rendering it inedible. They weren’t super busy, and I understand they were short staffed, but I don’t know that it excuses the food. My husband ordered the regular smash burger but he said there was a weird “herby” taste that he was not a fan of. He thinks it was the “come back” sauce. We are not complainers, so we paid and left. I really want to warn future visitors, please sample the jam before you order it! And Iron Forge, maybe do some better quality control before...
