We have come to Tennessee this time of year, November, for many years. We have always loved coming to Mountain Valley Winery and enjoying their delicious slushy. This year, however when we stopped by, in order to buy a slushy you now had to buy an insulated Tumbler for $22 plus tax. Granted you were probably getting double the slushy in these but our group of 4 spent over $88 in tumblers for the slushy’s because they were $22 apiece. When asking about refills on them, we were told that we could refill them for 7.00 but only on the same day, same visit. While the 7.00 is a great price because you’re getting probably double what you used to, you cannot return on another day with your Tumbler and get it refilled. So with that being said, when we come back next year and would want to go in and partake in their slushy’s, you would have to buy the tumblers all over again and pay another $44 plus tax per couple. When we inquired about the reasoning for this or who came up with this idea, we were given some crazy story that it’s because of young kids and the car shows and state laws not wanting people to indulge too much but however, they said if we were there and bought one we could buy another and another and another as long as it was on the same day, so how is that not wanting people to over indulge too much on the same visit. We have also in the past bought some of their cute things they sell in their store, but ……While we love their slushies , we will not...
Read moreStopped here a little after noon. They were not busy. Once we were greeted, we were lead to the last wine tasting station. The lady was helping a lady with her purchase and was going to be us in a minute. We started our wining tasting when the lady.customer asked a question and was told it would be just a minute. I told the person doing our tasting to go ahead and help her that we weren’t in a hurry. She told me that she was taking them on a tour after my tasting. First issue…I felt now I needed to Rush because I was holding up the tour. I showed my ID for my testing and my wife wasn’t doing a tasting, so she didn’t show her ID. I quickly did my tasting, on the last tasting, I thought my wife might like it, so I gave her a taste…the lady serving our tasting, not politely but snapped rather loudly to my wife I thought you were not tasting, I need to see your ID. My wife looked for her ID but didn’t have it on her. Then the lady said in a very rude and loud why, that’s why we asked for IDs. …just so everyone in the place could hear her. Well that’s when I , sorry we weren’t thinking, it was just a sip. Needless say she didn’t care and was now get folks ready for her tour. Then in return I said just as loud as her, what a poor experience this had been and left. Will never go back here and will never recommend it. Too many other great nerves in the area to bother...
Read moreSomething in the air around here?? We walk in and browse. They have a little shop and we are browsing. Christmas shopping already. And we are shouted at by an older woman about samples. So we make our way over and she is just, wow, she is having a bad day. Her face is ugly as she is making an ugly face. Her attitude is unbelievable, one word responses from her. She is trying to hurry us to pick out samples. Because when selecting a wine you want to quickly taste and add another layer at nascar speed. We picked a few bottles to purchase and then her mood changed. I guess she thought finally with these sales I will get tipped or whatever she thought. I am thinking these people can’t handle the pressure of visitors this time of year. All the ugly looks, attitude and responses says it all. And it’s sad, this was the 1st time we were able to visit. Normally we come with the kids and don’t get to visit the local shops. Between a few shops like this, I decided to stop shopping. Saving hubby money lol until I get home. More...
