I have cooled off since my last and final experience a few months ago. Before then I had a few mediocre experiences where they skimped on ingredients; I am meat avoidant and would order the veggie special. They'd place a thin layer of cheese; no joke, the amount that would be on a typical sandwich, and charge the same price as the rest of the menu. For that price I'd expect a bit more cheese- I understand food costs and all, but the sandwiches were so thin it was laughable. Other locations don't have this issue and make sure I get enough cheese to supplement the lack of meat and make it worth the cost.
The final straw was when I ordered the Caprese Salami Pesto sandwich and requested they remove the meat (as their vegetarian options aren't great.) Of course they take off the meat, but made no attempt to substitute it with anything. Not an extra piece or two of mozzarella. It's ridiculous that I would pay nine dollars for a sandwich where I literally get LESS. On top of that, I ordered in the app with the hopes my order would be ready upon arrival. I get there in ten minutes, and the three employees were working at a glacial pace with only one other customer. Isn't JJ's supposed to be "freaky fast"? As someone that has worked both retail and food service, my manager instinct kicked in and the situation was grinding my gears.
Anyway, after lolly gagging and doing anything but make the food, my sandwich comes out ten minutes later. The bag feels light so I get to my car and inspect it; I burst out in laughter when I saw the most pathetic sandwich of my entire life. Three pieces of mozzarella and a bit of pesto spread; yes, I know, I did omit the meat which is a major component. But come on! Not even ONE extra piece of mozzarella? I would have been happy with that- but as is, the portion was paltry and no attempt was made to compensate and make the sandwich a bit more substantial. Again, as someone that has worked in restaurants, it's typical to substitute the meat with cheese or a protein that is vegetarian.
I wrap it back up and go inside to get a refund, as I was honestly tired of dealing with this location. An employee comes up and asks why I want a refund; I open the sandwich and explain why, and she immediately becomes defensive and says, "well, you ordered it without meat." I say, "yes, I understand, but this amount is paltry and considering I paid full price, I shouldn't be receiving less." She goes on about how I would need to order extra mozzarella and at that point I knew it would be pointless to argue; I just ask for a refund and she gives it to me, making a big show about throwing away the sandwich.
I am not at all someone that likes to slam a business via review, but after giving this location several tries I have completely given up on it. I don't know if the owner of this franchise is super greedy and won't allow employees the autonomy to make these choices, or if management needs a reminder that shortchanging customers is never good business. Regardless, come here at...
Read moreI used to work here and the manager Jason is disgusting. Not only does he verbally abuse his employees, (then wonders why the turn over rate is awful) he also doesn't know how to keep his hands off of 16 year old girls. He creates a awful work environment where you feel like you cant ask for help without being beraded because "you should know this already." He would try to get out of the store 5 mins after the store closed and if we didn't he would get very angry that he had to stay "late," a lot of cleaning duties where sacrificed so he can go home faster. When I worked there he rubbed down my inner thigh while we were working on the line together, I was 16. One of the other managers saw it and didn't say anything because "I didn't wanna make things weird." When I reached out to my old boss at the Tigard store Spencer, I told him the situation and he offered to transfer me in a week or two, (Jason would schedule only me and him in store and one or two drivers) I said that didn't work for me because he made me uncomfortable and was told that was the best they could do. Jason still works there today with women who've told me he makes them uncomfortable with the company. (or at lest a few higer-ish ups) knowing about it. Besides the awful management, the place is disgusting. Me and one girl for the Tigard store got transferred there and were shocked to find mold all in the cleaning area. There was food that was stuck to the floor in the back. The utensils get A RINSE at best when they are being cleaned. Over all a bad jimmy john's to eat at and a horrible place to work regardless of gender or age. I really recommend the Tigard store, the people there are so kind and its much...
Read moreI ordered a Vito and a Roast beef sandwich for my children from the Sherwood store. Jimmy Johns delivered it to my home and I took it to my children who live in Beaverton. They are sick and were not able to leave their home. I get half way back to Sherwood and my son sends me a text that neither of the sandwiches have meat on them. I call Jimmy Johns and tell them what happened. Instead of just making it right, they tell me that they need to incorrect sandwiches back first, this is crazy. I tell them that is fine but I am half way between Beaverton and Sherwood and will need to turn around and get them. I asked them if I was going to get a discount or anything for this error and for me having to go back and get the sandwiches and bringing them into the store. Their solution was that they make the correct sandwiches and redeliver them to me sometime after I am home with the incorrect sandwiches. Of course they could not tell me when that would be. I would then have to take them back out to Beaverton. It made more sense for me to bring them into the store which was not what they wanted. The store manager would not even speak with me. They just kept making their employee relay everything to me. We love their food but this is not the first time that we have gotten a wrong order or something incorrect or them taking 90 mins for a delivery after we had a set delivery time. The last 6 months have been horrific. Today actually really upset, it was just a really awful customer experience. They never even apologized for the error. Instead they made me feel like a criminal for...
