Unhealthy - Unappealing - Unloved - Unacceptable - Overpriced
I really hate to give bad reviews, but this one is a borderline health advisory. And, yes, I would give zero stars if I could.
We just ordered two burgers from Five Guys Sarasota (Tamiami/Stickney Pt.). At $10 for a burger, you may think that you get something at least edible, maybe even appealing in taste or presentation. But not at Five Guys. Believe me when I tell you that the actual product you are buying is nothing like the photos. You will get a greasy, burnt, and squashed burger in aluminum foil, that - at least in my opinion - is not fit for human consumption. No one should be forced to eat black burned food, regardless of price or location. No pride of workmanship, no pride of ownership, no love for the product. I did not dare to feed this to my family, so I took it back. The manager did refund my money (sidenote, they did keep the tip ;D) on the basis that the burgers were burned beyond salvation, which she saw, but she was borderline dismissive about the squashed and disgusting presentation as a whole. She told me that this was Five Guys Standard (what a joke) and shrugged off my suggestion to use cardboard or paper instead of aluminum foil for the sake of conserving resources (and possibly helping the appeal of their products) by pointing a corporate policy. Fine, I'm not going to save the world or keep landfills smaller by fighting corporate myself, but what this conversation was missing entirely, was empathy, understanding and acknowledgement. So I got my money refunded, and yes, they do keep the original receipt and refund slip - again, citing corporate policy. I wonder why? Fortunately, the receipt is in the attached picture, in case anyone from Five Guys Corporate ends up taking ownership for their product or the people that they have running their franchises. I did give their corporate office a call about my experience and am waiting for a response. I'll certainly update my review if I hear anything from them (I have little hope), so my recommendation stands: There are three other burger places at the same intersection with better and more appealing food, as well as more committed employees, at half the price. Go there, avoid Five Guys in Sarasota and save yourself the disappointment and the money. It's a lot of show and story about how great their food apparently is, but little substance at a premium...
Read moreI am visiting Siesta Key on vacation and decided to use Uber Eats to order from this Five Guys location.
I placed the order on Uber Eats and 3 minutes after I submitted I noticed I forgot to add cheese to one burger. I went through Uber Eats to see if I could quickly edit the order and the message directed me to contact the store directly and gave the number.
I called and the woman who answered (didn't state her name) first answered with the wrong location name (said a completely different business name) and laughed.
I told her I had a very small add on to my Uber Eats order and she then cut me off to basically yell at me.
"Look at im gonna give you some advice and you need to go through Uber Eats for any of their orders. We didn't take the order so you need to go through them just so you know but whats the name on the order and what are you doing"
Gave her my name, and said I just want to add cheese to a burger ...
"Alright but you need to go through them if you do a Uber Eats order cus you placed it through them and we don't got nothing to do with that"
Me trying to responded: "OK noted, but Uber Eats tood me to.."
Cuts me off mid sentence "YEAH OK BYE" and...
Read moreThe burgers aren't the worst but not too far from bad. They are nothing special to warrant the obscene $9+ price tag. Avoid the grilled mushrooms they were slimy and rotten on my last visit. The onions are stringy and of bad quality too. The fountain drink machine is filthy, and the ice has black specks which indicate black mold. As you're probably aware they offer free peanuts which are of good quality... Problem is anyone and everyone puts their dirty hands in and grab handfuls of these contaminating the whole box of nuts. Very unhealthy and unsanitary. Bathrooms are usually not clean and the floors are always dirty. They also seem to employ illegal immigrants which I do not support in any capacity. The rating I've provided is also based on the complete lack of customer service and downright rude employees, including the manager. If you must go to a Five Guy's franchise, I'd recommend you visit a different location. The university parkway location is very good. Steer clear of this one! The store here in gulf gate will most definitely be a disappointment. I've given them several chances...now their permanently off my list. Save your money and spend...
