I had an afternoon to myself away from my kids on our once in a lifetime ski trip. I wandered in to Pizza on the Run to have a slice of pizza and a coke and just relax. I was not asked if I wanted to dine in or out, or in fairness, perhaps I didn’t hear her ask. I was told to grab a canned coke and sit at the bar or counter area. I was the only one sitting at the counter with 4 other empty seats. The sweet waitress inquired if I was waiting for an order and I said yes. She asked “to go” and I said no I’m eating here. I hadn’t opened my canned coke so I said asked for a fountain drink. A minute later the blonde girl who took my order cane over to the counter and put the canned coke down with a hard thump and said that my order was to go. I said oh okay well it’s for here. She informed me that it’s their policy that I ordered to go so I cannot stay. I told her she didn’t ask me if I was dining in or out and that I always planned on eating in. She said you have to go and can’t eat here. I pointed out that no one was sitting in the 4 stool around me. I asked was I supposed to eat it out on the cold? She said shrugging her shoulders with arm gestures as to say “I don’t know” (or I don’t give a s*) but what she really said was “at home or outside”. I asked for the manager and she confirmed it’s their policy and that she’s NEVER heard the cashier not ask dine in or carry out. I have never encountered this. I can understand if there were no seats but there were. The guy next to me before leaving and leaving the 4 empty seats, could not believe that and said “that is bad business And I sorry”. My family of 6 will be on the slopes tomorrow and most likely would’ve eaten here, but they’ve lost my business and hopefully if you’re reading this you’ll think twice. I took my pizza and left. The slice of pepperoni pizza was mediocre at best. I will not eat here again and have many friends and family that come to Keystone and they will hear the story about me getting kicked out of Pizza on the Run. What a joke! Please look at the schedule to see the names of the cashier and “manager” (used loosely). Well looking at my receipt it says “server-Stephanie”, 01/02/20 at 5:03 pm. The manager actually rolled eyes at me while walking off briskly. (I had pointed out to her also that chairs were open. “That’s our policy is all she respected before turning away and...
Read moreThe food is great. The prices are mainly ok. The service leaves MUCH to be desired:
We ALWAYS tip well. 20% minimum. This was the first time I have not (although it was about 18-19%). We were asked by the staff ( not in the best manner), to sweep up after our kids. Now don't get me wrong, if our kids are particularly messy...we clean up after, and do our best. However, on THIS night, one waiter, asked my wife to clean up because he thought we were especially messy (as a father of three, who was has done much worse and apologized over the moon to the wait staff)...... THIS WAS NOTHING! Oh by the way....we were outside. And the table was metal mesh. Give me a break.
We've been coming here consistently for the last nine years and this was the first time anyone on the wait staff was this rude. I would like to say; we started off the night with an awesome young lady and she was a rock star. We have no beef with her. She was pleasant, prompt, and she knew we were struggling just to make it through.
Oh and by the way, all the other customers around us had our backs and couldn't believe how they treated us. Here's my final point. I work in the travel industry. I've had a lot of customers bear the brunt of their frustrations out upon me. And I get it. But I never treated them the way I was treated this evening.
EDIT UPDATE:
So a couple we were with went back to retrieve an item and someone from the wait staff YELLED at them. This is garbage. So based upon that, I called in to at least attempt to voice my concern. Here's how they answer: "How can I help you?" Ok I get it. Lost in translation here. You're probably thinking I'm nuts because in your mind they used such a professional and kind voice......WRONG! WRONG!!!!' It was as unprofessional and harsh as could be. Now, final thought, we've been here a number of times before and had some great service. And yes, over 9 years it's been mostly good, but this event was so egregious, that I couldn't even believe...
Read moreIn all my years of eating out (I'm 63 and a disabled Veteran) I have never been thrown out of a restaurant. This woke drama started when my wife did not see the sign "Wait to be Seated," and went to sit at a table. As I am disabled I was quite far behind and when I saw her sitting I naturally assumed she had been seated. The female greeter came to the table and began berating my wife and got really snarky with her. I asked to see the manager and the greeter came back saying she was the manager. I told her I didn't appreciate the way she disrespected my wife. She then commences to berate me and says we are not welcome and to get out. I tell her I am a disabled Veteran and did not appreciate how she was treating us...the customers. She said the customer doesn't matter anymore and that I was subhuman. This is one woke establishment...beware.
Owner responded with a flippant excuse saying during the busy holidays they have to have a seating protocol - DUH! I know that but my wife didn't see the sign. No apology, no explanation. Also no explanation why the owner never showed up when I asked the manager to see him/her. Again, nothing in the owners response changes my mind that this is a woke and disrespectful establishment, especially to disabled subhumans...ie vertans. My recommendation continues to be..if you want a good pizza that has some semblance of customer service, go...
