The One Sushi and Ramen — Restaurant in Silverthorne

Really wanted some ramen today so we gave this place a shot despite the bad reviews. Oh boy was that a mistake. Absolutely HORRIBLE service. We were ignored for the first 10 minutes after sitting down and I finally flagged someone down who chased over a bus boy to take our order. We ordered a spicy miso ramen, it came out and clearly wasn’t the spicy one even though they insisted that it is. Beer never came, and neither did the gyoza and Thai iced tea. We had enough and flagged down someone else and said we just want to pay, and made sure they took off the items that didn’t arrive. They apologized and gave a 10 percent discount which was at least something. This is the first time I have not left a tip at a sit down restaurant - can’t leave a tip when we literally didn’t have a server. There’s a lot of potential with this spot but we won’t be back after this experience here.

EDIT: lol at the response from management. We weren’t served drinks at all, no one checked on us while we were eating, and there was no explanation for the food coming at different times. We can have patience if there are staffing issues - all you need to do is acknowledge us in the first place and let us now you’ll be with us shortly. If we have to actually wave people down after waiting 10 minutes with multiple people passing our table without acknowledging us leading up to that point, yes we are going to be frustrated. Look at all of the one star reviews you have recently and think about making modifications that would create a positive guest experience. The one star reviews aren’t just limited to last night so your excuse for bad service that one of the servers left the country the day before may be true but even when that person was there you’re still getting reviews about bad service. Management clearly is not going to make a change here so I strongly advise you avoid...

I’m in the habit of leaving great five star reviews to deserving establishments. I take no pleasure in giving a two star rating. This is an exception because I WANT this place to improve so much. We have very limited choices living here. We immediately noticed a great atmosphere. It seems to be a clean comfortable place. Our waiter, Lipi, was prompt and nice. I’m not a fan of miso soup but it came with both our lunch specials. If it had not been only lukewarm it would have been as good as any where else. The sushi arrived and looked great and seemed like a decent amount for the price. The spicy tuna roll had a good amount of meat. Unfortunately the rice was not warm and didn’t taste freshly made. It tasted like my homemade rice leftovers. Still, I could pull it off and eat the tuna. But my shrimp tempura roll was an all around disappointment. The actual piece of shrimp seemed like it had been halved or quartered long ways. The roll was filled with a few layers of lettuce and twice as much fried tempura batter. The spider roll was similar but with what seemed to be mostly a soft shell crab shell little to no actual meat. I feel like improving the rice, boosting the seafood, and getting rid of lettuce fillers could greatly improve this place. Please, if you need to raise prices a bit to add quality, just do it. This place is incredible! I knew right away I was getting sushi. I enjoy ramen but I love sushi. David the owner gave us a sample of something he created and even though my wife doesn't like sushi because of the texture, she really liked this. I could've had 15 of them! David was personable and greeted everyone and talked to everyone within their comfort. A true New Yorker as my New York friend would say.

The sushi was the best I've ever had in Colorado. He could've told me he went and got it fresh that morning from somewhere else and I would've believed him! David, keep doing what you're doing man! I'm coming back and you better be here! I gotta try the ramen next time! Thank you for a truly incredible (non) Colorado experience with the free sample. It's something I wish more places did around here. I'll be back again just for that sample you gave us but I'll order it next time. The sesame seed balls and the sake were also delicious. I don't have one negative things to say about this place!
