Bin 201 — Restaurant in Sioux Falls Township

Two stars because I have enjoyed their martinis in the past...but not tonight.

First time trying to have a relaxing drink inside. We have enjoyed several nights on the patio - wait service outside can be hit or miss, but that wasn't a big deal. We assumed that a bar that serves wine and martinis with a mellow vibe outside would also have a relaxing atmosphere inside - and potentially better service.

Not so, at least on this Friday night. Arrived about midnight looking forward to a tasty $9 martini. Bar was about 1/3 full and music was loud enough we had to raise our voices to hear each other, and when other patrons were near they would be talking so loud we felt like we would have to shout. Some of the music was upbeat jazz, but much of it was some sort of urban or at least something that was anything but relaxing.

Look I don't expect every venue to have music I appreciate every night, or even at all. But the contrast to what we were used to hearing on the patio was pretty jarring. And I expect the music to be almost unbearably loud at a dive bar with cheap drinks, but not in a venue where the drinks are premium quality and priced accordingly. Getting louder as the patrons get drunk, sure, but not this bad.

The comment I made to my fiancee as we were walking in was, "Well at least tonight we should get better wait service." Nope. Even though a large gentleman was coming out from behind the bar to grab empty glasses and rearrange furniture, we were completely ignored for the 20 minutes we sat there. I would otherwise just placed my order at the bar, but the noise would have prevented me from enjoying...

I will start by saying that I have ALWAYS enjoyed Bin 201 and I have frequented this bar for many years and I am on first name basis with the bartenders. HOWEVER, the owner of the bar is one of the rudest individuals I have met. The owner was shouting at my small group of friends when a friend simply attempted to adjust the propane fire unit. The owner shouted, "DO I GO TO YOUR HOME AND 'EFF' WITH IT". The altercation continued far too long because the owner would simply not stop. I have witnessed him shouting and swearing at females until police had to be called. I chose to continue to frequent the bar thinking that would never happen to me. How embarrassing, not for us, but for the owner.

Please do not support this owner and his behavior by going to his bar. I didn't go to his home and for drinks and to 'eff' with his stuff - I went to a business that is open to the public. If an owner doesn't understand such a simple concept then they shouldn't be in business.

I spent my last dollar there and will never return. We have a TON of places to choose from in...

Fantastic place for any evening to relax with friends, listen to music and have a drink. Sioux falls hottest gathering and ending spot for a night on the town.

Update March 2022. They've closed off the parking lot so the outside is no longer used at all during the winter. Went for live music, but they stopped early and went home. No management seemed involved in the music. Traffic was slower than I remember for a weekend from the previous year on a Friday night.

Update June. Very busy weekend night with new tables and an outdoor bar. Live music is back outside with built in patio furniture packed with people. 84f degree night so really nice...
