Another date night for the wife and I, once again we put on our fancy pants and headed downtown. Decided on Crawfords.
Upon entering, the decor is very hunting cabin-ish. Deer antler chandeliers, old furniture that you'd find at a flea market, even a bejeweled wall. Not kidding. I included a photo of the wall in my reveiw to show you how hideous it is.
The decor is like a hunting cabin meets the flea market meets Grandma's house. I get that it's an old building but it's time to upgrade the decor. The chairs we're so uncomfortable. People do have to sit in those chair's for awhile..so bad. . Now the good part. Our waitress Paige was very pleasant. Talkative. We started with 2 Margaritas as usual. They were $15 a piece and in small glasses. But they were very good. Then we ordered appetizers of Chislic and Rock Shrimp. I lived in Florida for 20 years and these Rock shrimp were outstanding! Chislic was a little chewy and under seasoned but decent.
Then after waiting 50 mins for entrees, our Pork Wellington and NY strip came. Had the bone marrow enhancement and mushroom risotto. Pork Wellington was amazing, as was the risotto. NY strip was good. But about what I make at home on the grill. Bone marrow was very good. My dog loved the leftovers.
Then we ordered the creme Brule dessert only to be told 5 mins later that they don't have any. Decided to go with the chocolate cheesecake. Was very rich and delicious. We really wanted the Creme Brule advertised on your menu.
The food is very good here. However the terrible chairs, horrible decor, 50 min wait for food, no dessert we ordered and the high prices made this probably a one and done stop. With an ok tip, our bill for 2 was $250. Steaks are overpriced by $10-15, drinks overpriced by $5, appetizers by $5-$8..dinner should have been more around the $150-$175 range. Crazy prices.
While I enjoyed the food, we won't be back a 2nd time. First time I think the food was 5 stars but the overall experience...
Read moreA group of friends and I went out to Crawfords a few weeks ago to try the burger battle. It was a Sunday night and not horribly busy in there- 5 of us were able to get sat right away with plenty of open tables. Upon sitting, we were asked our drink order and the second we asked for non alcoholic drinks, we could feel our servers demeanor change. At this point I would like to add we were dressed pretty casually as well. As we are ordering, our server mentioned that they were out of fries after we had tried to order them, which happens. After watching countless tables of food come out we were getting confused why we had been sitting there for 45 minutes with no food: 2 burgers, chislic, spinach dip, and a salad. At this point we hadn’t seen our server either. The food finally arrived and ended up being cold and the burgers well done- no apology from the server about the wait. Once we were done eating the server came back and asked about desert, prompting by saying “did we save room for creme brûlée.” We ordered a creme brûlée and the server came back, leaned on a chair and said “would you like a deconstructed creme brûlée soup with strawberries?” I than asked “can we just have the regular creme brûlée?” and all she said was no. Not “we’re out of it” or offering one of their other deserts from the menu. To conclude this review I just feel like the service was off and seemed quite judgmental of not ordering drinks and being young/ “underdressed”. I have been here multiple times on weeknights dresses in sweatpants and received better service and food. Two of us in the group work in the service industry and left saying that we would never treat customers like that or do our best to fix food if it was cold/ we were out. Super...
Read moreHonest first impression: Not impressed with our experience overall, especially for spending over $200 for two people to eat dinner. The ambiance was loud and rowdy, humid room temperatures, tacky decor, and the seats were too high and cut off my leg circulation the whole time. Our waitress disappeared for a long time before we could order our food (and throughout the rest of our time there), so we didn’t get our entrees until after an hour of sitting in the restaurant (nearby people that arrived after us finished eating their food before we got ours). I got the pesto shrimp pasta dish. The few shrimp that were on the dish were very small and did not taste fresh, especially for the price point. It was mostly pasta noodles, which were good and I enjoyed the pesto sauce, but the Za’atar spice they dumped on top overpowered the entire dish. My husband says his mushroom risotto was incredible and the waitress recommended the bison tomahawk, so that’s what he ordered. However, when we got the check, we were charged for the waygu tomahawk (should have been $72 but we were charged $135…big price difference). When we explained the error to the waitress, she insisted we ordered the wagyu. It took a lot of convincing and awkwardness (you could tell she just wanted us to say it’s okay and pay for it), but she reluctantly went to go ask her manager. They made the price right thankfully, but didn’t admit fault or make us feel better about it. We also overheard the people next to us also got the wrong dish and sent it back to be fixed. At a high-end restaurant, we expect high-end service. Won’t be recommending Crawford’s anytime soon. Glad other people in the reviews had good...
