Hopefully, this review will help someone else. PLEASE do not order food from this place. I definitely will not return. The level of service our family received was horrible. We ordered takeout from their website, which redirects you to purchase through SLICE third party service. We ordered a KIDS Baked Ziti item that specifically does not come with meat in it and is advertised WITHOUT meat on their online menu. After getting home with the meal I discovered there was a lot of meat in it. I called the restaurant to let them know that my order was wrong. The receptionist spoke with the manager and told me that it comes with meat and is advertised that way from the website and they could not refund me my money. They told me they would remake it for me. Upon preparing to go back to the restaurant, we received a phone call from the owner/manager who says the Kids Baked Ziti comes with meat and they cannot remake it because it is pre-made in the store in the morning. This was not our first time ordering kids ziti and in all instances it has come WITHOUT meat, yet she tells me it always comes with meat. She didn't want to take responsibility for her mess up. First, who puts meat in a Kids Baked Ziti? And, even so, why does your menu not specify that it comes with meat? And, why are you using sauce made this morning from the Dinner Baked Ziti entree? So, that means this food is not made fresh when you make your order. The owner then suggest we eat spaghetti with marinara sauce. Well, thats not what I ordered. If you're able to make spaghetti with marinara sauce, then why can't you make bake ziti with marinara sauce, add cheese and bake it? It's the same ingredients. The owners says, it's not the same. I cannot make that. It's made in the mornings. So, you're telling me that you own a restaurant, can make spaghetti/marinara, but can't make baked ziti. This is lazy service. She did not want to make the food properly. Then she tells me, if I want a refund I would need to call the 3rd party service and get my refund because they have the money. She was very nasty, did not bother to assist us, and blamed us for our meal selection. We did not improperly order our meal online. We ordered our meal based on how it was advertised. She refused to assist and abruptly hung up the phone. The customer service at this location is absolutely poor. After being forced to call SLICE third party for a refund, the SLICE rep made a phone call to the owner at Sal's Pizza and received the same level of service refusing to refund my money. Sal's is running a RIPOFF service against customers and SLICE third party. If you want your money do not invest in this business. SLICE rep returned back to the phone to assist me and said they would refund me inspite of the unwillingness of Sal's Pizza. If you desire vegetarian or meatless dishes, be very careful because they do not specify which items have meat or not and/or they are not preparing the meatless items properly. This item menu is not kid-friendly. Glad we did not eat this because it would have made us sick. In the pics, you can see the difference in the food descriptions of the Kids Baked Ziti and the Dinner Baked Ziti. The dinner does come with meat, the Kids DOES NOT. They were lazy and using the same dinner ziti made this morning for the kids ziti purchased online in the evening. As you can see in the URL, the online purchase was made at salspizzasmithfield, in which you do not see the redirect to SLICE third party. Buyer beware!

The woman that was working the front on Thursday, June 26 around 5:40pm was very rude and short. I had looked up the menu online beforehand and saw a special I was interested in, so I called to ask if the prices were the same. She told me, “That’s not us, we don’t have a menu online at all.” I then described the special I saw because I wanted to order it, and she said, “Yeah, like I said, we don’t have an online menu, but we do have a Sal’s Special…with sausage.” (I had left out sausage because I didn’t want it.) Check the photo I attached……I guess that’s not online or Sal’s huh? She said something else that rubbed me the wrong way and I said “I’m gonna figure something’s out, thank you” We’re trying Mama Mia’s in Carrollton great customer service!

My son Travis, whom I love with ALL my heart is a cook here. However, I will try my best to not be biased. As you can imagine, I've been here multiple times with family and friends. We have always had a wonderful experience at Sal's. The owner and all the staff members, who obviously love their jobs, are all amazingly courteous and kind. Their talent and work ethic shines through in their food; it is delicious! I love the wait staff, literally. They are the sweetest ladies, beautiful inside and out. If you are looking for delicious food with huge portions, and a relaxing atmosphere then try Sal's in Smithfield. The passion they have to please their customers is like no other.

I’m giving one star so i can leave this review. Would give zero if i could. Ordered takeout and got all the way home to the wrong order after the right order was read back to me on the phone. Called up there to tell them and the guy on the phone said they didn’t have the menu item i wanted after reading it back to me on the phone when i ordered and that “the menu online is different than what we actually have” what?? I asked to speak to a manager and they were “busy” but came to the phone 2 seconds later. She told me they actually do have what i wanted and they would make it for me. I go back up there and they try to make me pay 10 more dollars because there was a difference in the price of pizza after having to drive up there TWO TIMES when the right order should’ve been given to me the first time. I said no keep it and refund me. Then they don’t know how to do the refund back to my card. Terribly run establishment. Get people that actually know what they’re doing and not a bunch of high schoolers....

Pizza Making is an Art Form!

A superior pizza is like the holy grail: all too elusive! A superior pizza is comprised of a very delicate balance of components. I am convinced that pizza makers everywhere are unaware of their power potential.

I decided to try a slice of cheese pizza from Sal's. While I don't care for the reheating of a fresh pizza slice, this one was good enough to entice me to later order an entire pizza. While the crust was thin (like all NY pizza lovers prefer), and the sauce was right with subtle oregano, there was, unfortunately, a gob of cheese on top. This is where the balance was way off. One third of the amount of this cheese would have made this a superior pizza. While a teenager would probably be in heaven over all that cheese, with 1/3 of that amount of cheese, that same teenager and everyone else would recognize that this pizza joint makes superior pizzas!

I'll be back in hopes that this restaurant will soon be known as the best...
