This location is convenient; several times, I have taken family and friends out to eat here. The service can be slow at times because they are understaffed (as most restaurants are). This evening, however, was a horrible experience for me and my family. The alcohol menus do not disclose the prices of their drinks (and neither do their waitstaff). I ordered a medium size margarita. I have ordered drinks there before, including a medium size margarita. Nothing new there. However, when our check came, I was charged $19 for a "medium/jumbo" margarita. I was expecting a $13 charge since, this time, I did order a sugar-free margarita, which I would consider a specialty margarita. I was shocked and when I (respectfully) asked the waitress about the charge, she said that I should have asked about the price and that isn't her job to let people know how much a medium margarita costs. She was very unkind and rude. Also, I disagree with her when the margarita is the second smallest size available and it is $19. I spoke to the manager and he parroted what the waitress had told me. He did not care at all that I was confused about the price; he did affirm that they do NOT use top-shelf tequila so I left still feeling very unhappy about the price. I have had plenty of margaritas in my lifetime, including the specialty, very high-end, fishbowl-sized ones (thanks, Texas), and I have never paid that much for an alright-quality, medium margarita. Crazy. I didn't even pay $13 dollars for my food. We will NOT be going back.

Love the ambience and the drinks! My go to dish is the shrimp chimichangas paired with the border margarita. Update: My last two visits resulted in a reduction of 2 stars. I still stand by my original comment listed above. One of the key factors in success is consistency. Dined with friends and requested guacamole and queso. The guacamole was not fresh and it was soupy. It seemed to be an imitation or pre-packaged version of what you expect at a traditional restaurant. It was sent back. Portions of our orders were missing and items we asked for were not provided until after asking multiple times. It's still a nice spot to drop in and have a bite and/or a drink, but stay away from the guacamole and stick with the queso.

Stopped in after a Braves baseball game. The restaurant was very busy. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Our waitress was disappointing. It took a while for her to come get our order, she never brought our appetizer, never refilled my drink and it took forever for her to bring our check. I would try to get her attention, but she would never come to our table. She would go to the tables on both sides of us. Giving the benefit of the doubt, it may have been along day as we were there about an hour before closing. We would definitely go back if we are in the area and hopefully she will have a better day or we get another waitress. The food and drinks are worth it!

The worst service in Smyrna. We have given them countless chances. I can see a few tables getting decent service while we have suffered through slow, awful service. Waitresses that never come back and have someone else deliver food. I've sat for 10 minutes without being able to get a glass of water while other large parties come in and get automatic service. I've received multiple completely wrong orders while I have to encourage my date to eat while his is still hot or his food is getting cold. The final straw was the last visit ever, I always used to say, never again but I'm committing this time. I order tacos with no lettuce, my date has an enchilada, beans and rice, and a side of sour cream - $7 meal combined a la carte.. add a small cheese dip, $10.25. There is so much lettuce on the tacos that it's pourring out of the foil when it arrives. I send back the tacos before they touch the table. We're at the I have to urge my date to go ahead and eat stage. Tacos come back with lettuce scraped off and chunks still in it. I'm not a lazy slob like the staff, I can scrape lettuce off myself. I got up and asked that the tacos be taken off the check since I didn't eat them or want them after I'd been there 25 min already. Our semi-waitress pretended to oblige as she still charged us $13. I have one day off a week, maybe it has to do with being a young looking couple, I know it's not an expensive meal but I do really enjoy over tipping for good service (which is actually just adequate seeing as I am continuously cursed with miserably poor service). The little frustrations and laughably bad service add up. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. They need a huge overhaul in servers and just attitudes in general, none of the staff has seemed pleasant at all, I would say 3 of the 20 times I've been have I received good service, all hot food, and something resembling a smile on the staff's face. Please don't go here, save the frustration and go the extra few miles to South Cobb's Monterey at least. Or even Mexico Lindo. Hell, Moe's is a better Mexican alternative. Hope they can get their crap together or at least go out of business so something better can come in. Nothing quite like going home pissed...

I'm J Marky Mark and I am Georgia!! First off I want to Apologize for not adding photos. I bounced my little buddy the extraordinaire Google pixel 4a 5G and it ⅙ pretty. Funny thing was I felt like my dog got runned over. That should tell everyone how I feel about this awesome phone. Not to worry though doc says he's gonna pull and with a few Google parts will be good a new. Now this is a review of The Border Mexican Restaurant right there on hwy 41 in Vinings Georgia. This is a place I frequent so I promise to add some pictures in the coming days. The fact that I go there a lot should already answer some questions. First and foremost , it's delicious. If you have read any of my reviews you know I prefer the independently owned mom and pop shop over the big chains. This place is right in my Wheel House.. The food is always hot and fresh and prices are very reasonable. I believe the fajitas for two is $13.00 and really is enough for two. They have Margaritas served several was ,,,, another reason I go there a lot... This is where I got the Vampire Margarita which is basically a frozen sangria margarita . Sounds good about right now don't it? I believe I have had about everything on the menu and all of it is good. Another one of my spots where you can throw a dart at the menu. You can't miss. But I have to say my favorite thing about The Border is when you go there they treat you like a friend. No matter how swamped they are they always try to accommodate and they do it with a smile. All of that combined makes for a really nice lunch or a great evening out to dinner. The only thing left to do is head.... Ok,,, I'm not saying that.. lol. If you have found this review helpful or liked it in any way please smash the thumbs up button. I am interested in what...

This was my first and last time at this business. I came in and was seated at the bar. After about 15 minutes of not being acknowledged, I finally asked the guy at the register to make a to go order for me as I knew that I wouldn't have time to eat my lunch there. I placed my order and requested exactly how I wanted my food fixed ( I asked for my Texas fajitas to be placed over rice and queso put on top). As I continued to wait, I had to ask a waitress for a glass of water as I was still not acknowledged by the bar staff. Apparently the waitress forgot about my order because she continued to walk back and forth past me without it. I wasn't going to stress it because a cook bought me what I thought was my food but she gave me the wrong order so I had to continue to wait. A patron sitting beside me got the bartender's attention for me and he finally addressed me. I again asked for a glass of water. About another 15 minutes later the water and my food finally came. I looked at my food and noticed that it was not fixed as I requested. I ended having to pay an additional 1.25 for more queso because they didn't prepare my meal as I had asked. My meal was a total of $17.58, which was a total waste of my money. I expressed to the manager my dissatisfaction of the service and my incorrect order. He showed no interest in my complaint. I asked for some salsa and he proceeds to tell me it will be a charge of $0.75. At this point in time I wanted to blow as it is apparent that this is a restaurant that is all about the money and could care less about customer satisfaction. Thanks to The Border for making this a less than celebratory Cinco De Mayo for me...I don't even have a desire to eat my...
